Nose piercing!

Is it very painful to get your nose pierced? Would like someone to share experiences! I'd love to do it. But I'm nervous!

YES it’s a thick old bit of skin! Hurt a lot! Wish I hadn’t let mine grow over as I want it done again but know the pain now 😭

Lsquiggles · 27/12/2021 17:36

I've had mine done twice and it makes your eyes water but like most piercings the pain passes quickly

RonniePickering · 27/12/2021 17:37

I had mine pierced with a gun when I was 14, it hurt worse than any other piercing I've had.

I had it done with a needle, actually twice, the first one healed up. Yes it hurt but not crazy badly. My DD had hers done too and also thought ok.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 27/12/2021 17:44

I've never had an infection in mine. Healed really quickly
@pastypirate she’s got a ring - reluctant to change it for any kind of stud 🤷🏻‍♀️
If she changes to a stud for a while I bet the infections will clear up. A ring is a larger surface area and moves around the piercing site more. My piercer told me not to put a ring in until completely healed which for cartilage can take anything from 2-4 months.

I had mine done with a needle years ago and it was fine, nowhere near as bad as expected.

NewYorkDiamond · 27/12/2021 18:04

I'm West Midlands OP and use Funky Flesh tattoo in Stonnall (near Walsall). The piercer there is called Faye and she's brilliant, very no-nonsense but still kind and lovely to talk to.

Raaarrrrrrrr · 27/12/2021 18:47

Had mine done at a specialised piercing studio. Literally stung for the second the needle went through. Has a bit of external scar growth during during first 12 weeks. Piercer advised care and its all healed beautifully. Had the jewellery changed FoC by the piercer first time. Now I do it myself.

Go for it! I'm 40 BTW.

I had mine done and swore very loudly.

Definitely a huge overreaction on my part. It wasn't particularly painful I have just worked myself up Grin

Crayfishforyou · 27/12/2021 19:26

I didn’t think it hurt as bad as getting my tragus and helix pierced. But it was a little bit eye watering. I left it well alone for 8 weeks and it healed fine, I’ve never had an infection.
Get it done with a needle and choose a stud not a ring.

Usuallyhappycamper · 27/12/2021 20:40

Mine was no worse than getting ears done, but did take a long time to heal. Wouldn't get it done again as now I have hayfever, so it would be an absolute arse in summer.

cantseeforlooking · 27/12/2021 20:53

I had mine done last year at blue banana (I think they are all over the UK ) in Wolverhampton.

Made my eyes water but was over within seconds . It was a bit tender for a week or 2 but settled quickly .

I change my stud often without any pain , the only time it still aches a bit is if I have flung my stud out in my sleep ( happens more often than you would think!) and i almost need to force a stud in as it does start to close up within a few hours .

Do it , love mine and I'm old Grin

HippeePrincess · 27/12/2021 21:00

I have mine done twice - two in the same nostril. First time was more painful, second was a much more skilled piercer and much better experience!

Harpydragon · 27/12/2021 21:02

I'm 52 and had mine done at the end of October. I had it done with a needle, it hurt like a bugger and made my eyes water but was over relatively quickly. Like a pp I've had a few minor infections in it, but they generally clear up with salted water. I must admit I've been tempted to tcp it to see if that stops the blasted thing.
I had a gold stud as I'm allergic to nickel. Overall I love it, but can't wait for it to heal properly.
