What are people having?

We have finished off our leftovers almost completely (except for a stray parsnip or two) and I am desperate for some leafy greens and something other than gammon! (We did not have turkey or chicken this year).

So I am making a creamy tomato and chicken casserole with parsnip and potato mash, broccoli and cavalo nero. I am really looking forward to it.

3 days of a lovely Christmas period, but I am happy to get back to normal now!

My son’s girlfriend arrived earlier and they went to Waitrose and brought back ingredients to make a paella 🥘 for us tonight. Monk fish , saffron the lot. Can’t wait.

Was at sons for Xmas so no leftover turkey etc. Made mushroom soup and a corned beef hash. Easy comfort food, feeling lazy!

Buffet Day 3

Smoked salmon blinis
Pork belly
Baked Brie
Ham& Turkey cold cuts
Salad
Pickles
Bread
Dips etc

Ice cream for pudding

Actually longing for :

• Vietnamese summer rolls
• pho
• papaya salad
• a cold beer

I’ve just made a pasta bake - pea, pesto and goats cheese - to go in the oven later.

Potato dauphinoise with cold left over Turkey and Ham. Christmas pudding and Baileys Cream.

I did a roast chicken dinner pie. I also made a banana loaf. That used up nearly all the leftovers. The chicken carcass stock I made will go towards a soup tomorrow. The other half of the pastry will either be on a salmon mushroom and pea pie or fruit tarts.
I will be glad to get back to normal.

Mushroom stroganoff for me

We were meant to be eating Christmas lunch leftovers last night, but ended up having some of them for lunch at another family member's house, so didn't want them in the evening. So tonight it's turkey, roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots, sprouts, red cabbage and gravy. I'm looking forward to it!

Smoked fish platter here with salmon, halibut and yellowfin tuna, plus some salads. Quick and easy! I'll probably have an apero beforehand.

We are having a 'picky' type dinner.

Mini burgers from Marks, cheese and pickle, leftover turkey, salad, pittas, sausage rolls etc then puddings, we have Christmas cake, big sticky toffee pudding etc

Turkey and spinach curry, with rice, and raita.

Had left over veg bubble'n'squeak with a fried egg for lunch.

Last night of leftovers!

Jacket potatoes stuffed with mushrooms and Stilton. Spinach for vitamins.

Chicken parmigiano with spaghetti in tomato sauce.

We've just arrived at Butlins so it's restaurants for the next 3 nights.

I ate so many turkey sandwiches and leftover pizza at lunch that I sickened myself a bit so I might give tea a miss…. Probably means eating too many quality street whilst doing a jigsaw

We've just arrived at Butlins so it's restaurants for the next 3 nights.

Oh very envious. :) I'd love a trip away anywhere. I have never been to Butlins but considering it for 2022.

I’m totally fooded out. Was planning a pasta bake but no one was that enthusiastic. So I’m doing requests (don’t usually make lots of different dishes). Rule is ingredients must be in the house and can’t take more than 10 mins prepping! Kitchen shuts at 8. So far I’ve made poached eggs on toast x2 one with cherry tomatoes the other with cucumber sticks 🙄. I’m doing myself poached egg with spinach and grilled tomatoes with a sprinkling of fancy salt I was given for Christmas. Ah...and it’s now after 2000 so anyone that wants anything else has to DIY!

We're travelling home from Christmas with the in laws and just ate boxing day buffet leftovers in the car at the services.
Tomorrow we're visiting my parents and will have another buffet.

I love Christmas food but I'm actually really looking forward to the day after tomorrow when I'm planning to do something completely different - a healthy veggie curry.

Reheated beef from Christmas day followed the last of the m&s yule log.

Well the chicken and green veg was very welcome. Today I am thinking of prawn fried rice but have a huge bag of cavolo nero and a huge bag of spinach to use up somewhere.

Cavelo Nero makes an excellent seaweed type dish that would go with prawn fried rice
