Anyone else awake super early?

I was going to get up early today (6.30ish) to crack on with a bit of Christmas prep, mainly to do with food, bit of cleaning etc. Also we’re going for dinner later so wanted to start the day at a normal time so the baby can get her naps in before we go out.

DD (7) helpfully came in to our room at 4am to let us know her duvet had fallen off but she’d picked it up again so it was fine Confused and I’ve been WIDE BLOODY AWAKE ever since. I’m now sat in the chair in the babies room as she’s just had a feed. There’s really no point going back to bed so there?!

I been sleeping terribly all week. Ugh. DH has just gone to make me a cup of tea. I will need to nap later or I’ll never manage to do the stocking filling later.

Just put my bedding in to wash. Having a coffee, might prep the veg for tomorrow in a bit. Should be at the shop for 9 (for my missing brie).
Trying to get sorted early as I don't have a lot to do.

Small update on DDog, the culprit of my bad sleep, who is now snoring gently snoozing away- clearly her big night guarding us from all sounds has tuckered her out!

Bigbouncingbaby · 24/12/2021 06:42

This is my thread 🙌🙌 I’m awake as nothing from 3am on wards trying to get back to sleep .I am an early bird but that’s crazy …. Been like that for days now . Rubbish 5 am a total win

Might go for a run 🤷‍♀️

Sirzy · 24/12/2021 06:43

2.30 after taking Ds of his feed pump. I am trying to find the energy to get the ironing done now so it’s out the way

Ohmych · 24/12/2021 06:45

My sleep has been rubbish all week too. Maybe we're all secret children excited for Christmas or maybe stressed out adults worrying about how much there is to do.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 24/12/2021 06:49

Ddog came in to wake me up at 5.45am
I thought I had successfully sent him away and was just congratulating myself when the huge slobbery lump landed on me. It turns out he was just taking a run up.

He would be allowed to join us if he would sleep sweetly on the end of the bed but he has no manners and likes to burrow up between DH and I panting and licking us so we are now both awake

Ddog however had a wee in the garden and then went back to sleep in his own comfy dog bed.

Yep. DH works laptop which should of been switched off started making obscure noises - woke me up about an hour ago. I wanted to bash him over the head with it.

I don’t have too much to do today (apart from work and do all the wrapping)

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/12/2021 07:05

ive been up all night, not a wink of sleep to be found Xmas Sad

EllieSattler · 24/12/2021 07:07

Not ridiculously early compared to some but DS screaming ITS CHRISTMAS EVE in my ear at 5am wasn't a particularly gentle wakening.

TheCreamCaker · 24/12/2021 07:07

I've been up for an hour - husband's terrible snoring woke me - again. Then the cat wanted to go out 15 minutes ago, so I'm waiting for him coming back in - he's 17, deaf and only has one eye, poor old boy Grin so he doesn't stay out for long.

Impatientwino · 24/12/2021 07:11

bloodywhitecat Thanks

I've been awake for a couple of hours. Totally self inflicted - too much fizzy wine and cheese last night. Woke up with terrible reflux and feeling very uncomfortable but can't get up and get on as my DC wake at a pin drop.

I've had a bad week of sleep really (not wine or cheese induced) and I think it's hormonal as I'm getting to 'that' age. Had a terrible night the night before last as was wide awake most of the night so really should have been more sensible but much like my DC I got overexcited about a couple of friends coming over (we all tested prior) and over indulged Xmas Blush

I'm not hosting tomorrow but am in charge of making gravy and cauliflower cheese if I have any cheese left so not much prep or shopping needed which I'm pleased about.

Nice long walk on the agenda and now an added nap later hopefully! Very thankful for a peaceful day and wishing all of you with a busy or stressful one well.

I’ve been awake since 4.30 am !! All week I’ve woke early , Christmas does this to me .
I’ve work today so I’ve just done some washing before work and I’ll pop to supermarket on my way .

WellBuggerMeSideways · 24/12/2021 07:57

Been awake for a few hours. My long-distance partner is coming over today to spend our first Christmas together and I'm excited like a little child Grin

Hb12 · 24/12/2021 07:59

Yup, 5 am here. 4 year old far too excited to go back to sleep.

zafferana · 24/12/2021 08:01

Yes, I woke at 5.55am and I'd planned to have a lie in Hmm

Went to Sainsbury's for a few bits I needed at 7am. It was quiet, but there were several people going round with big trolleys filled to the brim.

No one else is up yet and it's now 8am.

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 24/12/2021 11:20

Anyone managed a nap yet?!

Echoesandsilence · 24/12/2021 12:56

Flowers for you bloodywhitecat

I'm awake since 4am as well. The wifi is really slow here and were trying to set up DS xbox ahead of christmas so we left it loading overnight. DH got up at 4 to check it and hide it before DS gets up and I couldnt sleep after that.

Have got loads done already though - watched a full movie, visited parents for breakfast, cooked a lamb for today and a ham for tomorrow.

I am tired now though. Luckily everything is wrapped and we only have one toy to make up when DC are in bed tonight.

amusedbush · 24/12/2021 13:36

I was up at 6am, which is really, really early for me. I’m a grad student so I set my own hours and my ADHD meds have decided they like a sleeping pattern of 2am - 9am Hmm

I’m also ill (not covid, negative tests every day so I think it’s a chest infection) but I had to sleep propped up last night, which was crap. DH is a postie and he is on early shifts in the run up to Christmas so I took him in at 7am and got a McDonald’s breakfast on the way home Grin
