Hosting - what crockery to buy?

Hi - I've always avoided hosting guests as it makes me sooo anxious but I've decided I need to get over this and be a lot more sociable going forward and become a fabulous host :)

I need to start by stocking up on dishes as mine are all mismatched and chipped and I don't really have a lot...really clueless on what to get. Any tips on essentials for hosting please? (E.g. how many dinner plate sets, pasta bowls, wine and prosecco glasses, serving bowls etc to get)? TIA x

What kind of prosecco glasses are you thinking of different from champagne glasses?

Flute or coupe maybe?

I have separate red and white glasses. I generally drink red but friends and adult kids are white wine drinkers. The red ones at the front and they all think I'm crackers when I won't let them use them for white wine. (Even though, after years of use, they have a permanent pink tinge unless I soak them in vinegar).

I also have 'fizz' glasses. It's usually Prosecco, Cava or Cremant. I think the glasses have only seen real champagne once, (and it was no nicer).

Thank you this is really helpful! I'll keep the same flutes for all fizz rather than get coupe glasses

Champagne bowls are actually much nicer to drink fizz from than flutes.

If you have the space id get both.
