Someone did an AMA once who was a picker for a supermarket. Apparently the subs can only be selected from a list so the individual pickers sometimes pick things they know don't make sense but can't change it.

My worst was when shampoo was substituted with hairspray. It wasn't the same brand or the same price, so I have no idea what the rationale was. I can't believe there was no shampoo in the shop!

Best was when I ordered a packet of ready to eat melon slices and instead got several large packets of mixed fruit which included melon. No extra charge.

What bugs me is Sainsbury's keep substituting vegetarian meals with meat based. Eg I ordered sweet potato, chilli and coconut soup. They sent me some with chicken in .

Some of these are ridiculous! My worst was regular plain white loo roll got substituted for coconut scented Andrex. Who on the world wants scented loo roll? And worst of all was that it made everything in the delivery with it smell of synthetic coconut too.

I absolutely love the coconut scented toilet roll! DH bought some once when it was all that was left in store . It made the bathroom smell lovely. I do love the scent generally though .

It’s when you order something basic like cheddar and they don’t even bother to sub it, like there’s no cheddar cheese of any kind in the entire shop ?

I got thickening granules instead of cornflour. I could see the logic but I was making carrot chips rolled in cornflour!
