We've been married for 42 years.
Unfortunately mil died a few days ago and we have been looking at her collection of photographs.
I grew up over 10 miles away from dh.
One of the photos shows dh playing football at my local youth centre and there is ME in the background watching my dB play.
He remembers coming to my YC in a tournament with his YC.
Happy days.

Ah that's lovely.

My dad's family had a home they rented out to holiday makers over the summer (not wealthy, the house was available because of a facility tragedy). When my mum was a cold, her cousins rented it one year when they came to visit, my mum went over to play.

I had a similar thing happen to me. At secondary school, we had to bring in photos of ourselves as young children. We moved when I was 9 and my secondary school was 300+ miles from where I lived in my younger years. One boy in my class brought in a photo of him aged 3 at the beach. Next to him and his family was me and my family. The photo was taken where I lived at the time and the boy and his family were on holiday there!

My mum saw a cute boy on the beach on holiday as a tween, he was with a slightly older pretty girl, his gf my mum thought. She met my dad at age 15. Years later, while looking at family photos, they realised that the cute boy was my day, say with his aunt.
I love that, to me it proves they were destined to be together! Fate gave them several chances to meet to ensure they'd be together. I'm a softy!

That's really sweet, write the story on the back of the photo and put it in a beautiful frame. Amazing that the photo captured you both. Makes you think of all the photos out there that you're in the background of without knowing.

I thought you were going to say that FC isn't real...

DH had a school trip to the island I grew up on and they stayed in the youth hostel 2 miles from our farm. We use to see their school minibus pass the farm every day. I didn't meet him for another 10 years in another country.

x2boys · 11/12/2021 11:37

I didn't meet my dh untill I was 31,but when I was much younger I was 18 with my first serious boyfriend ,we used to meet up with my then boyfriends ,friend in the local pub sometimes, the friend was actually my Dh,s cousin their Dad,s are brothers we all lived in Greater Manchester but different towns .

Yuledo · 11/12/2021 11:46

It was discovered that my friend whilst at uni the other side of the country, had a boyfriend whose dad was a friend of my dad. There are pictures of them together.
How on earth we discovered that connection, I have no idea.

My dh and I have been married 22 years, meeting when i was 23 and dh was 26. ALL of our lives, we had lived in the next road to one another about 3 minutes walk away, if that. We had NEVER ever seen each other before we met when I was working in a local pub. My dh is very distinctive, even more so back then, so I would definitely have noticed him.

MrsDThomas · 11/12/2021 13:13

I love things like this. After DH and I started dating, i found out his 2nd cousin is my god mother, and she married my uncle (mum’s brother ).

BaronessBomburst · 11/12/2021 13:18

DS desperately needs to know; who won the match? Your brother's team or your husband's? Grin

Greydove28 · 11/12/2021 13:38

I love these stories!

tillytoodles1 · 11/12/2021 14:02

A woman I used to know had a photo taken at a Christmas party when she was about ten. Sitting two seats away from her is a little boy, who she didn't know, but many years later they met and got married.

Gouldengirl9 · 11/12/2021 18:02

@baronessbomburst DH can't remember.
But when phoning my DB his wife's brother was also playing for another team.
She is not on the photo. But rembers being at the YC.
