lots of coffee
a banana
a coldish shower
jumping jacks at break time
cold water on face

lots of new parents have been there, done that.

but yes, if you feel like you can't cope there is no shame admitting it to yourself and calling in sick.

So sorry @Yafilthyanimal. The grief cycle is brutal and unpredictable. It's been 2 years for me and I'm still a mess some days. It's OK to go with it. Just call in sick. Be kind to yourself 💐

Whatever you decide to do today I’d strongly advise NOT to drink too much coffee. One or two fine if that’s what you normally have, but any more than normal will just leave you feeling overly jittery and probably a bit sick. Trust me, I’ve done it in your situation and it’s not nice.

If you do go to work, A trick I sometimes use in the afternoon - go into the loo, rub your hands together really hard so they’re hot. Sit down & put hands over closed eyes for a couple of minutes.
Also cold water compresses over eyes can help (again gives you five minutes in the loo sitting down).
