What are you doing for Christmas?

Can't decide whether to try and do the whole big family 15+ bash at a relatives, or just bunker down and have it just us? Actually quite enjoyed our lockdown Christmas last year because we decided that's what we were doing early on and so were really organised. Now I'm worried we'll make big plans and have them cancelled. I love a big Christmas but maybe it's just not the time!
Bloody covid makes it's so hard to plan!!

Just me, dh and two young adult ds. I'm prediabetic though, so no tasty treats for me Sad

CraftyGin · 24/11/2021 17:25

Finally managed to pin down the DCs. It will be DH and I, 5 adult DCs and 1 DIL.

I'm not sure when anyone is coming or going, but will pretty much do what we have always done. Church is a big part of our Christmas so that will get a few look-ins.

Home alone with the cats. I will probably order curry for dinner.

We always have a quiet Christmas - DH, DS and I plus my DM and DB. ... so no real difference to most years but the first without my dad who died this year (age 90) but we will still make an effort to have a nice time, good food, church, walks and board games and a film if we can all agree.

I've realised that my DS (an only DC) has never spent a Christmas Day with other children !

We're going out for Christmas lunch at one of our favourite pubs with my cousin and her family. Looking forward to getting dressed up, eating delicious food and letting someone else clear up all the mess.

Then it's back home to change into PJs, ear Quality Street and watch cheesy films.

Boxing Day we're going for a long walk then supper at BIL's. Staying over so we can have a drink.

I host 6 adults and 4 children at my house.

We are landing back in the UK at 2200hrs on Christmas Eve, so I don't know. Can we come to yours for our Christmas Dinner, OP?

ChesterL · 24/11/2021 17:55

I’m going to Spain hopefully! Failing that Christmas lunch at a country pub in the Yorkshire dales with my family.

Silkieschickens · 24/11/2021 17:59

We are just having it on our own here as a family but now recently been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer and looks like the mastectomy operation may well be over the Christmas dates. So we may be having 2 Christmas meals which will make Silkiecat very happy as she loves big chicken oka turkey.

LittleMissnotLittleMrs Hope your surgery goes well and hope they give us Christmas dinner in hospital too.

First Christmas as a single mum, H is having kids on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. Dp's are staying with me though so they can see grandkids when they get back. I'm planning to get shitfaced. My partner is with his family so might come over boxing day.

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2021 18:07

Christmas with my family on the day with lots of noise, playing, eating, giving gifts etc and then a repeat on the 30th with my in-laws, including all the cousins on that side so a big houseful of family, lots of children from newborn up to teens, more food and swapping secret Santa gifts. Between and before, we are having meals and gingerbread house building and walks on the coast with various friends.

Christmas for me = family, food and friendship and as much as possible of all three.

Will have my grandparents with us for Christmas, I have them every year and I love it. My kids adore them and I'm aware they won't be around for much longer realistically. My gran helps out with the cooking, my grandad talks the ears off dh, kids run around playing with toys, then everyone dozes around the fire, playing games, eating chocolate. Ideal lazy lovely day . I'm hungry thinking of my dinner
