Feeling foggy and dazed - is it anxiety?

I feel foggy and dazed quite often. It used to only happen in certain situations (usually on the tube or in the supermarket), but it happens more often now, even in a dimly lit restaurant. I never really notice it when I'm at home.

I just feel like I'm in a daze and everything feels foggy. You know when you kind of zone out and your eyes unfocussed, that feeling of having unfocussed eyes is how my brain feels.

I can push through it but it is a really uncomfortable feeling.

I'm wondering if it's anxiety?

Also I'm in my 20s so it shouldn't be hormonal

Do you suffer from migraines at all?

dayswithaY · 20/11/2021 22:33

Definitely not anxiety, for me it's the opposite of feeling foggy.

Could you be tired, run down, low on vitamins?

Caeliacs brain fog?

yourshycolleague · 20/11/2021 22:51

No, I've never had a migraine.

I sleep around 8 hours a night.

I could be low on vitamins, I don't really eat that healthily... I am also quite stressed and anxious in general.

Have your thyroid checked and ask to test for any deficiencies such as iron. You might feel fine at home as you are less active and more comfortable. I guess it could be anxiety related but it could also be something physiological that is out of balance.

Could you be burned out? Not sure if that's an official thing even.

yourshycolleague · 21/11/2021 11:40

I am vegetarian and not great at eating enough protein so I may have low iron. I’ll ask my GP.

It could be burn out, I’ve felt quite stressed in my new job which coincides with when I started noticing this foggy feeling happening more often

Hi, did you manage to find out what this was? I’m feeling very similar!
