I need new friends!

I have a lovely friend who I’ve known for many years. Unfortunately, at the beginning of our friendship, I failed to realise that the reason she is about 3 stone lighter than me is because she eats about 3 times less than I do.

Whenever we go out together, we invariably share a sandwich or some sort of main course between us. Fine, I can deal with this.

Things get a bit more tricky when it comes to sharing cake. I love my cake but, eager to not reveal myself as the greedy cake lover I am, I can share cake (and then go home and eat more).

But things hit a new low today. Three of us met for coffee and cake. Long-standing friend suggested sharing one piece of cake between the three of us, other friend seemed to think this was a great idea, and all I could do was agree Shock

One piece between three of us! Traumatised. And hungry.

This is weird. Sharing mains and one piece cake for 3 adults?! Really odd.

I agree, this is not a common thing in my experience. Everyone orders their own food.
‘Joey doesn’t share food’. 😂

You’re not obliged to go along with your friend’s genuinely tiny appetite or disordered eating. My closest friend struggles intermittently with extreme anorexia (she’s been hospitalised recently, and is now on an out patient programme), and if she’s ok with meeting to eat, as she often is, it doesn’t occur to either of us that she should restrict my eating or use me to restrict hers.
