Is this a normal procedure from childminder?

Hi,

our childminder always sends our son home when he has runny poos and then he's not allowed to return for 48 hours.

Just wanted to ask other people on
here if their childminder does the same?

Is it a normal procedure to block the child from coming for 48 hours?

Thanks x

She whatsApped me to ask what he ate and when I said a bit of vegetable soup, she wrote "Vegetable Soup for Breakfast?????"

To me that sounds like she was just checking you had read her message correctly, as vegetable soup for breakfast is very unusual.

I also think if she's waiting until he's had 3 runny poos she's being very lenient.

I wouldn’t let my child be looked after by someone that uses that many question marks after a statement.

If he has three runny poos in a day that is unusual and he probably has a bug and needs to stay off for 48 hours.

If you think the runny poo is caused by too much milk, why aren't you cutting down his milk?

A vegetable soup is odd for breakfast

Yes 48 hours is normal, that also protects your sons from others having to do the same

Yes it's normal, 48 hours from last runny poo not first. Most childcare settings wouldn't let it get to 3 - she is lenient. If milk is causing stool changes then it's highly likely they have an intolerance and you should cut down not let them have 'lots' - it's irritating their bowel.
Re the soup she was probably clarifying. Dd eats lots of weird things for breakfast but has never gone as far a a bowl of soup (yet)
