There cannot be a better one than Hedonism by Skunk Anansie ... I've just listened to a live and acoustic version on Alexa and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Her voice is beautiful Smile

What's yours?

Everybody hurts by REM

Where did you sleep last night from the nirvana unplugged album

Jeff Buckley’s cover of hallelujah

To the end by blur

And most of the above 😁

@RockallMalinHebrides

Looking at my Lockdown playlist which kept me same whilst working from home and most of above these seem to appear - takes me back to happy times and a life without responsibilities.

Can I add:
The Cranberries - Daffodil Lament
Born of Frustration - James
Protection - Tracey Thorn and Massive Attack
Porcelain - Moby

Ahhh love all of these.

Sometimes, especially after too much wine, music from this time brings memories back so clearly and fresh I really have to try not to cry, the nostalgia is that strong Shock

@NoraLuka

I live abroad and yesterday in the supermarket they had a massive speaker randomly playing Don’t look back in anger. Hadn’t heard it for ages and stood next to the speaker until it had finished!
I love moments like that!

I was driving DS’s girlfriend home this morning. Jump by House of Pain came on and we all sang along. Apparently it was in the playlist of the party they went to last night as “there’s loads of cool stuff for dancing to from the 90s”. Who knew? If only I’d been there the first time round!
Waiting for DS to look at my photo albums and realise that the flippy skirts, DMs and jackets his GF wears look a little familiar….

westr · 13/11/2021 19:37

westr · 13/11/2021 22:30

Ooh to the end is a good one

MilitantFawcett · 13/11/2021 22:41

Missing - Everything but the Girl
Girls and Boys - Blur
No Scrubs - TLC

And an honourable mention for Get Yur Freak On by Missy E because although it’s a 2001 song it’s good enough to be 90’s 😁

youvegottenminuteslynn · 13/11/2021 22:57

Glory Box - Portishead

The Drugs Don't Work - The Verve

Beetlebum - Blue

youvegottenminuteslynn · 13/11/2021 22:58

Tupac - Brenda's Got A Baby

Makes me well up and vibe at the same time every time I hear it.

TeenTraumaTrials · 13/11/2021 23:18

Have to second Linger. If it comes on the radio I turn it up and sing (well screech) along at the top of my voice. Also One Tree Hill by U2

converseandjeans · 13/11/2021 23:21

Massive Attack - Unfinished Symphony
Pixies - Where is my mind?
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Under the Bridge

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 13/11/2021 23:40

This thread could make a cracking playlist.

Talking of TLC we could probably add the whole Crazy Sexy Cool album.

Second a pp on You ougtta Know by Alanis Morisette

Oh and also Bittersweet Symphony. That Rolling Stones intro sample is proper goosebumps stuff

OP posts:
VivaDixie · 13/11/2021 23:47

Yeah I was about to say I am going to make a playlist out of all these songs!

Every song on the thread for me, particularly Children by Robert Miles and Zombie by the Cranberries

westr · 14/11/2021 00:01

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz exactly! That's why we need more recommendations

youvegottenminuteslynn · 14/11/2021 00:09

All TLC, Aaliyah, Brandy (so underrated), Pac, Eminem, Biggie, every track on The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Fugees' The Score.

UK wise Shola Ama (you're the one I love, you might need somebody) had some absolute bangers and Kele Le Roc's My Love is gorgeous.

This thread has me rediscovering some epic playlists I've made on Spotify over the years!

Snoopsnoggysnog · 14/11/2021 00:13

Ahhh what a thread

OP I know what you mean about the nostalgia. Sometimes some of these songs are almost painful to listen to. I’m happy now but my gosh the 90s had everything in it for me.

I was coming on to say Set you Free or Baby D but I’ll have to think of some more.

WeAreTheHeroes · 14/11/2021 00:24

Sneaker Pimps 6 Underground
Massive Attack Teardrop

MadisonAvenue · 14/11/2021 00:31

Ordinary World- Duran Duran
Just Another Day - Jon Secada
Prettiest Eyes - Beautiful South

BirdyBee · 14/11/2021 00:33
