Fuming with Boots

I went to buy some perfume advertised as reduced to £28 from £72, it was out of stock online but available in store.Except it was still full price in store, how can they do that?

I was fuming, what a waste of time, I got up early on my day off, still suffering with post-covid headaches and tiredness, to go on a wild goose chase, a bloody con to get people in their shops. They probably think people will buy something else while they are there, but it's made me determined not to buy anything at all from them.

Don't most people know online and instore have different offers?

Most places don't seem to. I would normally compare Boots, Superdrug and maybe whatever supermarket is nearest. Superdrug and the supermarkets have the same prices in store and online. Boots is the only place I have found otherwise.

Btw I am not talking about anything labelled an online offer - I am talking about the basic current price.

The same happened to me at an independent store... In store it was £75 but online on her ebay outlet she sold it for £25! I told her it was terrible service and pretty much laughed at me..

Loads of people have been unable to log into the Boots website for months. Can’t access online sales, can’t access anything. Boots customer care, don’t care!

A similar thing happened to me at Boots, one price online, one in the shops. And they told me that they honoured any online offer. Had to show them the offer on my phone, though. (And it turned out I was looking at Superdrugs website instead of Boots. 🤦)

That's awful! Have they not given any explanation?

If it was oos it could be that the offer was finished but just not updated. Most stores run their online stores totally separately though. I remember asking the staff in H&M once about an item that was half the price online and they explained there was no correlation between discounts online and in store. They don't specifically state it's an online offer either.

Nope @cowburp. Lots of Twitter and MSE comments about it. I’m in contact with their customer services monthly and all I get is, “we’ve passed your comments onto our digital team.” It’s a joke. Considering contacting the CEO.
