Who HASN'T had Covid?

I haven't. I've been in work (out of home) since June 2nd 2020 and I work with 2-4 year olds, mostly covered in bodily fluids. Nearly everyone I know has had it, including 2 of my children. Dh, DS1 and I have not had it. I feel like it's a waiting game now.

me and the rest of the immediate family.

AvocadoAndToast · 10/11/2021 16:08

I haven’t as far as I know and I’ve worked in schools throughout. How do we know really though? A significant percentage of people have it asymptomatically.

TheChosenTwo · 10/11/2021 16:09

Me and the 4 others in my household. I work in a school and have done throughout the pandemic, my youngest has been at school throughout, my other 2 dc have been at school and then college and have mainly been there too.
Sadly not the case for quite a few of my colleagues, many of whom are off and have been for quite some time Haloween Sad

Me and our family of 4 haven’t.

HedgehogintheFog · 10/11/2021 16:10

How do you know you haven't had it? Aren't a high percentage of people asymptomatic and regular testing did not become the norm until quite a way into the pandemic?

Tal45 · 10/11/2021 16:10

None of my immediate family.

Tal45 · 10/11/2021 16:11

@Tal45

None of my immediate family.
Sorry, none of my immediate family as far as we know.
RagzReturnsRebooted · 10/11/2021 16:12

I haven't. I'm a nurse, but in primary care so not really exposed to ill people. DH and DCs haven't had it either. Have had 3 vaccines, but still expecting to get it at some point!

Iwant2move · 10/11/2021 16:12

Me, as far as I know. I wonder if I was asymptomatic. I know of two people who took tests after close contact with a person with confirmed Covid. They both tested positive on LFT and PCR but had zero symptoms.

MonsteraDeliciosa · 10/11/2021 16:12

I haven’t, as far as I’m aware. Nor have DH or any of the DC - some of whom live elsewhere.

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/11/2021 16:13

Me, DP, parents, siblings and their families, hardly any of my friends in the UK or abroad.

Mrsjayy · 10/11/2021 16:13

I've not as far as I'm aware had covid or anybody in the household. DH .worked out of the house some days but not directly with people during lockdowns. DD works in retail.

FlaggRF · 10/11/2021 16:13

I don't know anyone personally who has. None of my friends or family.

sociallydistained · 10/11/2021 16:14

Me and I have no idea how. I am a nanny to two families, 6 kids in 4 different settings (schools and pre school) and only one of my charges has had it and not passed it on.

nellytheelephantscircus · 10/11/2021 16:14

Me and 2 DC 10 & 12. They've been at school pretty much throughout and I've worked (from home and in the office).

Mrsjayy · 10/11/2021 16:15

My eldest had their own house and they worked throughout and directly with people has also escaped covid

SirSamuelVimes · 10/11/2021 16:15

Why does it feel like a waiting game? It's not inevitable.

No-one in my immediate family has had it, so far as we know. A few negative PCR tests so far, one each for me and both DDs.

When daily case numbers are seemingly very high it helps to remember that the UK population is near enough 70 million people. So 27k really isn't a very high proportion.

Add to that the fact that you are highly likely to be asymptomatic even if you do get it... You really shouldn't feel like you're waiting for the axe to fall.

WhatHaveIFound · 10/11/2021 16:17

How do you know you haven't had it?

I always assumed that DH and I has escaped infection when our teen DC had it but months later my Covid antibody test was positive (DH's was negative). I'd had no symptoms whatsoever, didn't even feel slightly unwell at any time

EileenGC · 10/11/2021 16:18

I haven’t. Live in a big city with 4m people, use public transport every day, have never done the shopping online. I work - unmasked - with 100+ people each day, in close proximity.

I’ve been on ~40 flights since the pandemic started and regularly travel both domestically and internationally for work.

So far so good, touch wood.

RobinPenguins · 10/11/2021 16:19

I know less than 10 people who’ve definitely had it, including colleagues, friends and family in that.

YellowClouds · 10/11/2021 16:19

I haven't, I have had 2 antibodies tests around 6 months apart and both have been negative.

Most people I know have had it, including my DC and close friends who I have been around. So I think I've been lucky?! Only had one vaccine so far.

EileenGC · 10/11/2021 16:20

How do you know you haven't had it?

People testing very regularly (every 2-3 days) all throughout the pandemic have a good chance of knowing for sure. Chuck in the odd antibody test and you can be fairly positive (excuse the pun) those test results were accurate.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/11/2021 16:20

It feels like the Sword of Damocles

Nobody in my house. Dd goes to school every day, ds is a young adult and goes into pubs and nightclubs.

Just waiting in fear really.

MrsMariaReynolds · 10/11/2021 16:21

I would really love to see the statistics on what percentage of the population have had at least 1 case of Covid vs the more commonly referenced number of total positive cases.

It does seem to be a bit of roulette. I know lots of people who have never had it, including myself, as well as numerous others who have had it at least twice over the course of the pandemic. I've worked in person as school support staff throughout the pandemic, so lots of opportunity to encounter the virus.

Mrsjayy · 10/11/2021 16:21

How do you get antibody tests I've not heard anything about them?
