Hotel stories please

I'm in my first hotel since lockdown with work
I went to make a coffee (ensuring to boil kettle once first and throw away then boiling water in cup) but horrified to see ring of coffee still in base of cup. I feared they were wiped not replaced but now I believe it. I'd seen clean cups on the cleaning trolley previously and thought "oh they must clean them!" Seems not here.
Has anyone worked in hotels with good stories to tell? Or just hotel stuff in general. I'm bound to be awake all night so give me something good to read!

Confused I just fell for one of those lazy journalist posts, didn't I.

@RachelHasThoseInBurgundy what story? I am genuinely away with work, ALWAYS wake up in the night in hotels not able to sleep and wanted something easy to read.
I often create threads like this because I'm nosy.
I was going to do another one about trains too as my train journey had various incidents including a man scraping dry skin of his hands with his teeth. Then blowing it away.
I'm real. Not sure I'll convince you but there you go.

I'm not a journalist! Honestly. Not sure I can convince you unless Mumsnet can check my other threads and confirm.
I feel quite affronted now. I hate being falsely accused of stuff in any scenario. Is there a way to prove im not a journo? Maybe the word journo proves it. FFS.

I've definitely seen clean mugs/glasses on the cleaner's trolley in a premier inn stay recently so doubt she was just using skanky towels to clean and replace the ones in the rooms.

Threewheeler1 · 04/11/2021 18:18

I think I love a hotel story just as much as I love wheelie bin story so I'm settling in Grin

@Custardslice3

I stayed at a PI a couple of weeks ago - it was the first time taking my DS7 to a hotel. A couple of hours after checking in I went to get something from down the side of the bed and realised with horror that my sock was wet because I had stood in a pool of someone else's vomit!!
Oh jesus! Envy

Once turned down a job in a swish boutique hotel. Guests used towels were used to dry bath /shower /sink /crockery..
Grim.
I now clean for air B&B hosts and do a bloody good job!!

As a kid, I lived in a pub.

Memorable moments were: walking into our private bathroom to find a strange man stretched out in our bathtub, and staying with my friend in a room and finding the previous occupant's porn collection (we were seven).

Oh, and a guy being shoved headfirst through the glass doors (I was first on the scene, and Not Happy), and someone shooting a rifle from the post office through the window of our neighbouring tavern. (We also had that one).

Totally agree with The Grand Scarborough, as we stayed last year, so disappointing
