Neighbour stealing or coincidence?

I live in a building with 2 other flats. One on the top floor, one on the bottom and me in the middle. All flats are owned by the same landlord.

A few months ago I was expecting a package, I was at home but on a zoom call, the door buzzed with my delivery and I let them into the main building. When the meeting was finished I went down stairs to find there was nothing there. I checked my emails and there was a picture the delivery driver had taken of my package in the hallway. Anyway this package never turned up.

Fast forward to last week, it was my birthday
My Aunt had sent me a birthday card with cards from two of my cousins enclosed. I never received the cards.

I know for certain someone has taken my package but do you think it's possible that someone has taken my cards too? It would have looked like there was money enclosed.

Should I just knock round and ask?

Sorry, I see they don't have letterboxes - shove the note under their door.

I vote @TheKLF's suggestion, BUT put the notes in expensive looking envelopes, addressed to you, and leave them in the hallway.

You have no mailbox so everyone can take your mail as they wish? I would say you have bigger issues then just missing birthday cards, that’s a receipe for possible identity theft.

I'm going to do this...

@AnotherName456 that's a good idea. Just send it to yourself with a false middle initial so you know not to open it yourself if you do happen to get it.

I would ask your LL to install CCTV in the communal area if packages are going missing. One of your neighbour's is stealing and you have a right to find out who or at least, have them too scared of being caught on cctv trying to steal again.

Send an activated tracking device through the post, maybe in something so you can see where it goes. One with a very loud alarm maybe.

I've got a tile gadget on my key ring that links to my phone and an app that can activate the tile to play a tune. I can find my keys by activating the app and my phone by pressing the tile button.

You could buy one (prob better to buy in store... for obvious reasons). Activate the tile and post it to yourself. If it gets stolen you can either knock on your neighbour's doors, explain about your missing post and parcel ask if they've seen your missing parcel, whilst discretely activating the find my keys app. If you hear the tune in the background... you have your answer.

Or you could loiter outside their doors to see if you can hear it from outside. It only works within a certain range but you can work out where it is. I can't remember the exact details as I keep forgetting I've got it on my key ring.

In fact, thinking about it, you might want to 'locate' it first before knocking on doors. It will play an annoying tune while you locate it so might alert the thief. Then you can work out what to do next as in whether to have a chat with the police or knock on their door with a friend in tow!

I might be over-thinking this!
