Differences in mood before and after ovulation

From near the end of my period to ovulation I am full of energy and enthusiasm and can get so much done. After ovulation I hit such a massive slump. I can't be bothered with anything, I'm tired and don't want to be around people and everything annoys me from the way clothing feels to having to do anything. It's all such as effort. The change is just so big.

I eat well, force myself to do the exercise I normally love. How can I stop it beinging a slog and for it to be like the first half of my cycle all the time? It's holding me back.

I don't take the pill and I'm 43.

I take Premeeze (agnus castus) twice a day and 1300mg evening primrose oil once a day and I feel like this has taken the edge off. I still have some days where I overthink and feel a bit on edge but they aren't the full 2 weeks now. I'm due my period at some point in the next week and I've felt really great the last few days. I'm glad I realised the correlation of my moods and started tracking them as it's plain to see it's hormones at play almost every time.

I have OCD and find the looping thoughts are so much worse just after ovulation.

I am 42 and similar. In addition the anxiety the last 5 days or so before my period is getting worse and worse.

The last month i have been taking a multivit with iron (in addition to the Vitamin D and B i always take) and I haven’t felt nearly so bad, still a bit grumpy but not clinically anxious with no energy or motivation.

I’m the same.

I’ve been following a few hormone specialists on Instagram. And here is a video of someone talking about syncing your cycle. I shall be following this, haven’t started yet… hope this helps someone!

I'm following this with interest as I can track my mood like clockwork according to where I am in my cycle. I've started on iron & vitamin B complex tablets so hoping these might help- will update.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I suffer the exact same and the looping thoughts mentioned upthread were so bad yesterday, I'm just post ovulation.

I'm so tired of it..my dh is lovely but of course he can't really understand.

I have been taking magnesium and vitamin b6 for a while now and I think it has helped but I do still have a real difference in mood and energy, it has helped me to not be quite so angry though so dh appreciates that!Blush

Watching and reading with interest. I fell exactly the same, getting hormone levels checked at the GP next week. The tiredness for a couple of days about day 21 is crippling. After ovulation I'm hit with a real real low, almost suicidal. Thankfully that shifts and leaves me feeling miserable until my period arrives and then I feel like I could conquer the world and look back thinking what happened, " remember this is hormonal and you don't really feel like that". Next month arrives and its back to the depth of despair again.

So my period only lasts 2 days and the enegy I thought was coming back has gone and it feels like I have mild ovulation pain in my left ovary. Feel fed up!
