FFS crying at Greys Anatomy

Fucking hell, I don't remember it being this traumatic in the old days when it was first released.

I'm crying today at Mark's life support being switched off.

Last week I was crying at George dying and him standing there in his army uniform. 😭

@Badgerstripe

The staff death rate at that hospital is off the scale. It’s a wonder they can get anyone to work there. I’m on season 10 so Derek and Christina are still in it. I should quit now.

4 staff brain tumours in 7 years! 😄

Oh I am going to start watching again.

I cry every all the time watching it.

Have to agree with the above comments. The fucking beach pissed me right off.

And yes, everytime I watch it back I like Derek less and less.

HauntedVag · 29/10/2021 20:38

@Ostryga

007 killed me too. When Callie had to go check for the freckle on his hand.

Oh George. He was like a brave heroic adorable puppy.

I've just ploughed my way through Series 1-3 of The Resident on Disney +. I highly recommend it for any fellow Grey's fans who fancy trying something new, although I can't say it has had me crying that much. My tears always come out for This Is Us though.

thedollysbuttons · 29/10/2021 20:40

Can I also suggest the fan videos on youtube set to music? They're my guilty pleasure.

Poppop4 · 29/10/2021 20:45

I break my heart at 007 every single time and at lexi too but mark got me the most.
I loved him, totally heartbroken when his life support was switched off.
Then derek too, that was traumatic as hell and I thought nothing would ever be as sad as that and then deluca happened and I sobbed my heart out.
I can watch it again and again though, despite all the tears it’s the best show!

couchparsnip · 29/10/2021 20:45

Dd has started watching and George is still in it. She is in for a shock bless her.
I cried so much when he did the 007 thing and Meredith worked it out, then was full of hope (in denial) only to be devastated again when Callie confirmed it really was him.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 29/10/2021 20:50

I completely love the sad videos to music on YouTube 😭

I almost always cry at This Is Us (and Grey's, and many others too).

And there will definitely be more tears by the time you reach season 5 of The Resident.

asteroommatus · 29/10/2021 20:52

First time I watched it I recommended it to my friend. She watched it about a season behind me.

Then I watched George die. Despite her wanting spoilers I didn't tell her about George. I really felt she had to experience the Horror of the 007 moment.

frugalkitty · 29/10/2021 20:55

Yesterday I was crying over Denny. I'm rewatching again with DD....right now it's the episode where George's Dad is dying and I'm feeling the feels again. No one does this stuff as well as Greys.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 29/10/2021 20:55

George😭
Denny 😭 😭
Mark when he realised he was dying 😭😭😭
Lexie a 😭😭
Derek with too much insight so knew he was dying 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Deluca 😭😭😭
Going against the grain, I enjoyed the beach and seeing all the dead folks back🤷‍♀️

When I’ve had a stressful time I watch these so I can cry and get over it. Don’t tell anyone
frugalkitty · 29/10/2021 20:56

Oh, and I agree with the comments about Derek, he's awful to Meredith in these early seasons, and such a hypocrite.

You get all the good bits and don't need to fast forward the boring parts Grin
DontKeepTheFaith · 29/10/2021 21:17

I’ve just finished 10 days home working as ds2 had Covid and Grey’s anatomy re-runs have been my lifeline against terminal boredom.

I love George and no matter how many times I watch, it’s always very sad. And Mark, he really did become very likable by the end. I’m at the start of season 10 so have Derek’s death to come😢

The beach went on far too long……it’s a shame because up until about season 12 it’s awesome and then it just loses its way. Still have to watch though🤣🤣

Purplelion · 29/10/2021 22:08

Reading this has made me see how unusual I am in not liking George!
I’ve just finished season 17, it’s obviously very different but I’ve enjoyed it.
I LOVE Amelia!
Mark’s death broke my heart.
I’ve just discovered a podcast called The on call room, 2 girls, massive Greys fans, have watched season 1-12 and then just gossip about them for an hour!

amusedbush · 29/10/2021 23:40

@grapestar

Jesus, if you are crying now and you only sound like you are a few seasons in just wait till it gets further along. In fact, if you are that much of a state I don't reckon your emotions will be able to handle much more...!!
I've watched it over and over since it started airing in the UK and the earlier seasons are much sadder, without a doubt. All these years later and I still cry about Denny, when Izzy is lying on him and Alex scoops her up in her prom dress Sad

The newer seasons are, in my opinion, totally shite. Void of any real emotion, new characters I don't give a shit about and aggressively "woke". I'm all for representation and dialogue around social issues but it's sooooo painfully obvious and stilted, just really badly done. I'm still watching season 18 (which is, blessedly, slightly better than 17 already) but it's not a patch on the first few!

amusedbush · 29/10/2021 23:44

Oh yeah, apparently I'm a monster because I had zero feelings about Deluca Blush

I think I'm just over the show at this point, which is sad because I've been watching it obsessively since I was a teenager - more than half my life.

Lurleene · 30/10/2021 01:19

I think Delucca's storyline didn't cause the impact it deserved because all the action took place in a crossover episode with Station 19. I think that was pretty shitty to the Grey's viewers to miss out on that and not great for the character either.

NadiaVulvokov · 30/10/2021 04:15

@Lurleene I think it was also pretty shitty the way they just killed Delucca off to get him out of the way for a better romantic prospect. I specially after the whole he’s crazy like his dad/no he’s not, either way he’s not Meredith’s equal and he should be grateful she even looks at him theme they’d been going with.

Rosiiiiie · 30/10/2021 05:14

Oh Denny’s death… and Izzy asking Christina about shiva… and at the end of the episode her saying ‘I’m ready now’ and she gets off the bathroom floor and Meredith helping her out of her dress. Probably one of my favourite episodes of all times.

And what about when Meredith and Derek’s dog gets put down? Aw man!

Strokethefurrywall · 30/10/2021 05:32

My shock episode was Lexi dying. I couldn’t breathe after that one.
My brother was terminally ill at the time and we both watched it at the same time on other sides of the world. My brother messaged me to say that he was pissed because he was never going to know how the plane crash episode turned out. For me there is always Greys before my brother and Greys after.

For me, my most tear jerking episodes (aside from Lexi dying obviously!) were never the ones that involved the main characters. I still ugly cry at the episode when 2 brother come in having tried to beat a train at a level crossing and the younger one does and nobody tells the parents so Lexi has to.

The mother wailing “my baby, not my baby” hurts my stomach from holding back tears.

The little girl that dies before she gets to Mexico, and Miranda rocks her in the chair.

The Southern family that get in a car wreck caused by an intern at Mercy West who falls asleep at the wheel 😭

And any episode where Callie cries. She’s a phenomenal actress, I believe her character so much.

So many of them break me.

Pinkywoo · 30/10/2021 09:24

@Lurleene yes, I was so pissed off they did that, I don't want to have to watch Station 19 just for storylines to make sense.

ManifestingWisdom · 30/10/2021 18:17

Ah is that what happened. My dd and i thought we'd missed an episode but we coukdnt figure out how we'd missed it. Bailey also said things that were presented as known facts but we couldnt remember them being said in the previous episode! Now it makes sense.
