How would you interpret this question? I hate double negatives

How would you answer this question if you do have a student loan and the only options are 'yes' or 'no'.

'You do not have a student loan'

OP, it's horribly worded, but as you do have a student loan I think you need to answer "no", because you don't not have one. (@Bluntness100 I believe this is one double negative OP was referring to.)

Why don't they just ask - do you have a student loan? Saves all the ambiguity.
