Without going into too much detail pf your current... (the basics) Can i ask what your current life is like vs your dream life?

OP posts:
Mother87 · 22/10/2021 20:19

Current : feeling emotionially batterered after the last few years of bereavement (dad)/Helping DD 'regain' her life after years of mental health & family issues /separation from DH but both working on reconciliation /'running' around looking after others - worn out/depressed/really trying to chill tf out more...

Dream : to feel 'lighter' and just less weighted down by all & everything /to not feel 'on alert' all the time 'waiting' for the next crisis / to not feel mother-guilt or daughter-guilt /to learn to cope with losing my dad & actually 'enjoy the nice memories'

Twinmumandtoddler · 22/10/2021 20:25

Current and dream. I got everything I wanted. Great kind caring husband. Big house in the country exactly the way I want it, a beautiful 3 year old and adorable twin 3 month old babies. Not rich at all but no money worries. I have a good part time job working from home (on mat leave), I never found a career I loved but only wanted to be a mother anyway. So I’m happy with that. Smile Maybe one day I will find a dream job.

I didn’t have a good childhood, so I feel like I’m waiting for something bad to happen. Or that I will be a crap Mum and mess things up.

Athinginitself · 22/10/2021 20:26

Actual life-Loads of health problems that make life feel v difficult, can't have a child due to above, struggling to hold down pt job so can't buy a house etc, lot's of worry about the future.

Dream life- Better health, coping at work so able to get on with buying a house and living a bit more, able to reconnect with friends and hobbies and do more for my family. Too late for a baby now but a couple of dogs and some ok health to enjoy nice things would help the healing.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 22/10/2021 20:29

Current - work full time, live in modern urban house.

Dream - don't work, live in quaint old cottage, spend my days pottering about.

Titsywoo · 22/10/2021 20:51

Pretty close to be honest. Happy marriage, two lovely kids, nice house in a nice area and not far from London (my happy place), own business, comfortable well off and a few good friends.

However my kids are both SN and have a hard time socially, my large friendship group has mainly drifted apart since Covid and some people moving away, DH and I have to work our normal jobs along with running our business as it isn't yet profitable enough and it can be stressful and we never stop. So certainly not perfect but I'm very happy still! If I could fix all the above and be rich enough to have a flat in Central London and travel a few times a year too I'll have perfection Grin.

Laladell · 22/10/2021 20:54

CURRENT LIFE -
Single
6 yo
Stressful but well paid job
Nice enough 2 bed flat
Can't drive
Shitty dv police case on going
Small tits 😂

DREAM LIFE -
In a nice loving relationship with a beautiful man (but could actually live without this tbf)
Maybe less hours at work but still the same wage 😂
To of never met my ex
Be able to drive
Nice house with a garden and a cat
Tits 😂

Thinkbiglittleone · 22/10/2021 20:57

Pretty much going ok, not really wanting for much.

Been a SAHP until our DS started reception in sept. I secured the job I wanted a few weeks ago, we have a puppy, extension on house starting soon (fingers crossed), so I'm pretty happy and content.

Dream life would be a farm somewhere really secluded. But I'm happy where we are tbh.

Thinkbiglittleone · 22/10/2021 20:58

Oh yes and married to a lovely man BlushBlush forgot that pretty major bit Shock

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 22/10/2021 21:00

Current life - work ft (from home ATM) in a mostly admin job. Not exciting. Dp and one child. Nice 3 bed house but we are trying to move. Lots of issues down the line.

Dream life - I drift between being like angel strawbridge and renovating a chateau and wafting as round in kimonos, and living in the canaries and wafting round in kimonos. Basically totally different than my life now.

hotmeatymilk · 22/10/2021 21:11

Current: work a lot, one child
Dream: DP and I are both part time (but still have enough to get by), more kids, dog
This, but a cat.

I had my dream life pre-kid, freelancing writing and not earning much but had low outgoings. But it wasn’t my dream life because I wanted a baby... Having to work and earn money is an absolute fucker that shits on most dream lives tbh

OldTinHat · 22/10/2021 21:12

Current: can't work due to disability.
Dream: legalised euthanasia.

FakeFruitShoot · 22/10/2021 21:15

Current life: 4 kids, pt interesting job, lovely DH with whom I get on really well, great family and friends nearby, enough money to do most things, nice house

Dream life: I would pick this house up and move it where our old one was (less than a mile from here!)

SilverGlassHare · 22/10/2021 21:16

My current life is pretty good, but in my dream life, I’d have a second child and work four days a week instead of full time. And get paid just a bit more. And be a perfect size 10 without needing to work at it.

MaverickDanger · 22/10/2021 21:22

We are pretty much as close to my dream life as I could get.

Maybe 3 days pw instead of four. Maybe a slightly bigger house eventually once we hopefully have more kids.

The absolute dream would somehow be if all our family were closer, but DH’s family are the other side of the world. Affording yearly business class flights would be excellent Grin

Durbeyfield · 22/10/2021 21:28

Current life: successful career, three beautiful sons, great DH, good health, properties. And a great wardrobe. Lovely friends.
Dream life: More trips to the Amalfi coast and a trip on the Trans-Siberian express booked. Also my own dog.

Jasmin82 · 23/10/2021 22:36

Current life: Single, unable to work due to disability, unsuitable housing very close to abusive family, little to no money

Dream life: Single, part time job, nice bungalow or log cabin with wheelchair access far from abusive family and enough money to not be worrying every month.

Aposterhasnoname · 23/10/2021 22:39

I’m close, if I could just lose some weight.

3luckystars · 23/10/2021 22:43

Current life: no cleaner
Dream life: cleaner 5 days a week

ChocAuVin · 23/10/2021 22:53

Current life: great job but hit a sex-based career ceiling (big gender pay gap and just 1 woman in senior leadership team of 8 Hmm)
Lovely home
Blissfully divorced
3 DC; one adult

Dream life: fulfil my savings and investment goals, pay off mortgage; have a job where I can still make a positive difference yet work on a par with the menz; write the book that’s inside me, have the adult DC either move out somewhere he’s safe and well or stay with me but somehow magically change from the constant mess-making, resource-draining liability I currently know and love 😁

Zerrin13 · 23/10/2021 23:44

I'm 56 and i dont really think the perfect life exists but mine is alot better than it used to be.
Married 20 years and 3 kids. So glad I became a Mum.
Nice house here and a holiday home in husbands country.
Had our own successful business for 17 years.
My lovely dog
Not having to work anymore and it's bliss!

RussianSpy101 · 23/10/2021 23:50

Mine are pretty close, actually. The dream would be a holiday home, but we’re hopefully going to tick that off in the spring.

I wanted a lovely husband, healthy and happy children and a lovely house and area to raise them in. Enough money to be comfortable.
I have all that plus more, I would say we are over the comfortable line now and have a very good life. DD is in a brilliant private school and DS1 will be joining her next year, joined by DS2 the following year.
We both turned 30 this year and I feel like we’ve achieved a lot.

Strokethefurrywall · 23/10/2021 23:59

Pretty close to dream life. The only thing I’d want to change is to move out of the corporate legal field, run my own music collective and, when in the UK, have a large field where I keep rescued farm animals.

Currently we live in the Caribbean and there’s not much grazing land. I’m working towards my next “career” and the end dream is not impossible!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/10/2021 07:02

I like my life. I'm single which I like, have an 8 year old DS, his dad is involved so I get time to myself. I don't want any more children. I have a good work/life balance. A good family and a great group of friends, an active social life. I own my house and will have the mortgage paid off before I'm 50.

I have enough money for bills and day to day activities, hobbies for DS and days out, but not much leftover to save towards a pension so that would be the dream. Not sure yet how I'm going to manage when I retire, I can't really get a better paid job as I don't have any qualifications and can't afford to retrain. I think I'll just have to focus on paying off the mortgage and then save like crazy for retirement when that's done.

teekay88 · 24/10/2021 07:12

Current: working full time compressed week in a job im hating, with no time for me and QT with my 3yo affected, son in nursery 4 full days

Future: both of us part time on different days, son in nursery 2 days and with their granny 1 day. Time for more family life, long weekends away etc. A realistic prospect of working for myself

hellcatspangle · 24/10/2021 07:17

Current: spend every day worrying about my family (one is very sick and having treatment, the other has different issues and depends on me a lot)

Dream: to be living by the beach with a dog and not a care in the world.
