I know that this is owned by many a Mumsnetter but.....when did you last look at it in detail?

Some of the recipes are downright disturbing!

Particular favourites found when DD and I were looking through it earlier are.....Prawn and Potato Salad, crab/chicken Mayonnaise and Chicken Creme......

Mind blowing stuff! Had to explain to DD that we didnt actually eat that stuff in the 70's and it was more aimed at the Margot Leadbetters of the world!

I had it in 1970,and used it ever since. The March Pork Casserole is excellent.
The chicken breast with lancashire cheese sounds odd but is gorgeous.
And the Christmas cake is one of the best I've ever used.
Liver and Bacon Casserole excellent.
Normandy apple flan
Scandinavian apple charlotte is a delicious sweet.
If you already have a copy, take another look, and if not maybe buy a copy ebay is good for books.

@CeratopsofthePharoahs

I have one of these, it belonged to my Nanna. There's a curry recipe that has blackcurrant jelly as an ingredient.
Fear not, it's not blackcurrant jelly like you set in a mould, it's blackberry jelly as in blackberry jam without the bits. I used to make it loads with a few tweaks, it's really tasty.

I used to have this book, and use the icing for chocolate fudge cake a lot

I still have my mum's copy and like to flick through and work out if there is any ingredient that they haven't attempted to put in jelly!

Hi, my grandma used to make this soup and I don’t want to buy the entire book just for one recipe. I believe it was the cream of mushroom. Could you PM me both of the mushroom soup recipes so I can be sure? That would be amazing. I would love to recreate it. Thanks

Pork a la creme and chicken cobbler were my favourites in there as a child before I went veggie. I made the chocolate button cake with my mum when I was little along with the butterfly cakes. I use the Christmas cake recipe from there. I always wanted to make the yellow cake with the purple flowers.

My Mum still makes pork a la creme from this book, and it's bloody delicious! Think it says to put slices of fried bread on top, but she mostly foregoes that now!
