Anyone else claimed for child benefit and still waiting 5 months later?

Had my second child in May this year, applied for child benefit. Chased this two months ago and they confirmed that they'd received my application so it was definitely in the system but advised it was taking 12-16 weeks to process claims. My daughter is now over five months old and I've still yet to receive a single payment. Part of me wants to know if this is happening to anyone else and if so how long people had to wait. The other part of me just wants to whinge about how unacceptable it feels for it to take this long when presumably the government are aware thay maternity pay starts decreasing pretty quickly so mums are even more in need of the money?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'd contact them again as the website says it takes 6-12 weeks and that it's only backdated for 3 months

I claimed in August and it was processed within a few weeks. Definitely worth chasing it up

Had my third child in May as well and mine was processed within weeks. You should chase it up again

Thanks all. I went on webchat and the person said they've asked someone to get in touch with me within the next 5 days. I'm guessing something has gone wrong, it's a nightmare as I'm now down £440 that I should have received. When I chased last time they did reassure me that it's backdated 12 weeks from when the application is marked as received, so we should get it all from our daughter's DOB.

Just had an answer message from Hmrc... They're processing my claim today so I should have money in my account by the end of next week!? Madness.

Yes my Daughter had her Baby 1st March and been told she won’t get it until July most probably. This is disgraceful as she needs that money like all of you do. You are entitled to it. My daughter rings and the line hangs up after a while. Someone needs to look into it

I'm sorry your daughter is going through it @Raine49. Funnily enough I've been in the same position again - we had stopped receiving it as DH got a pay increase that pushed us just over the threshold by less than £100 🤦🏻‍♀️ So when the rule changed on April 6th I immediately applied to have it reinstated again. Got my first payment yesterday! It's less pressure for us this time thankfully as I'm back in work, but when a parent is on mat leave and you're really relying on getting the payment promptly it's a pain.
