What would age 13-14 be in adult sizes please?

I am buying DD’s Halloween costume and need leggings in a specific colour.

She wears 13-14 leggings in M&S, and still fits into her Next age 13 leggings ok.

The only leggings I can find in the colour we need are for adults - what would the size equivalent be?

I appreciate they might be a bit long but that’s ok.

Around a size 6?

Not sure tbh. My dd is 16 and wears a 6, but she is very small for her age and would still fit into age 13-14 clothes.

Sisisimone · 25/09/2021 14:19

6 or 8

AuntieStella · 25/09/2021 14:20

Probably a 6, but could be one either side depending on brand

About a size 6. DD is tall for her age & wears a 13-14 or a size 6.

Shellfishblastard · 25/09/2021 14:21

Fab thanks!

She is only 11 but bigger built and tall for her age.

Will check the reviews and go for a 6 or 8.

Look at the size guide on the m&s website.

Shellfishblastard · 25/09/2021 14:21

I had a 12 in my basket 😂

And sorry for stating the bleeding obvious, but have you taken a tape measure to the pair that fits her most comfortably, and then looked for a company with a size guide that gives actual measurements?

Toddlerteaplease · 25/09/2021 14:22

I think I was a size 10 at that age

KirstenBlest · 25/09/2021 14:22

Another one saying 6 or a small 8. I wear Tesco children's tights or M&S children's joggers in the winter.

My 11yo DD is a size 6. She's small and skinny and dainty. Her 14yo DSIs is a 12 women's at least. Her big boobs put her in 17-18 years school shirts. She's got size 5 feet and is 5ft 5" tall.
Basically, it's hard to guess a teenagers size using age any more. The differences are vast. And DD14 looks perfectly proportioned. She's not overweight, just womanly.

Your best bet is to grab a tailors measuring tape look at size charts online for a good idea.

No I’ve not as I’m being lazy 😂

It’s cheap yellow leggings from
Amazon too so not the most reputable seller.

What size does your 11 year old wear in kids clothes?

Mine is14 and very very tall and very skinny she is a 6

Shellfishblastard · 25/09/2021 14:30

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

Look at the size guide on the m&s website.
Didn’t think to do that! So she would probably be in an 8 based on comparing the waist size of girls trousers and women’s trousers

MathsFiend · 25/09/2021 14:30

If she’s wearing 13-14 then I would thin she’d be an 8 at least.

dementedpixie · 25/09/2021 14:31

Dd is 17 and wears a 10 in ladies clothes. Her age 14-15 leggings are too small

gogohm · 25/09/2021 14:36

6-8, leggings are more forgiving than some clothes

AuditAngel · 25/09/2021 14:37

My 5’7” 14 year old is very athletic, she normally wears a size 8

Cocopogo · 25/09/2021 14:43

DD is 12 yo and wears a size 10 adults

HuhWhatNow · 25/09/2021 17:36

My 11 year old wears 12-13 or 11-12 years, depending on the store.

NoSquirrels · 25/09/2021 17:43

I’d say 8. Especially if cheap Amazon leggings - not renowned for generosity of material.

Cheesewiz · 25/09/2021 17:44

Women's size 8. I'm a size 10 in women's and can fit in age 14-15 clothes. My daughter is in age 12-13 clothes and I buy her size 6-8 in leggings as there isn't much choice in kids sizes

Passthecake30 · 25/09/2021 17:48

My dd is 11, about 5ft 3 and wears age 13 joggers, age 13-14 tops and also has some size 6 shorts/tshirts. I’d go with a 6, unless you want them to last another year?

CarrotSticks23 · 25/09/2021 17:55

It doesn't matter how old your child is and what clothes size they wear, it's absolutely pointless saying my child is 16 and wears a size 8. Do they also fit into ago 13-14 clothes is the point

OP I would have said about a 6-8, maybe more a 6 if they are 11 and not very busty yet
