Today I had a rare morning free to sit and not do much , was on my tablet.
Dh sits down next to me and talks shite !
We live in uk , don't own property in Canada , never been to Canada , and no plans too. His conversation was about Canadian roof trusses , and snow load balance .Probably 20 mins, I continued to look at tablet just umming and ahhing where appropriate.
Next conversation Ram content on pcs , then the rise of prices on copper pipes in the building industry ( not his career )
I'm thinking of giving him the lowdown of yesterday's bike ride to work , or perhaps all about Julie's ( work colleague ) plan for the weekend !

We both talk about current affairs and our day at work.
He will also talk about famous people I have never heard of, usually musicians. If I tell him no, I don't know that person he will then say "They wrote such and such obscure song from 15 years ago, no still don't know them. They once worked with X you know X who produced insert name of another obscure band. Sorry don't know who you are talking about. Well before they joined X band they were in Y band ( again very obscure) with the bass player who went on to play bass for (obscure band who less than 1% of the population has heard of.) Again I really don't know who the actual fuck you are talking about.

Stuff needing doing in the house, our son, things happening at work
I would say it's usually me that brings up random topics but he's quite intelligent so he usually has good input to what I'm talking about

FluffyWhiteBird · 25/09/2021 15:01

His day, his latest projects, his totally unrealistic dreams that will never happen because he won't actually get on and do anything to make them happen plans for the future, reminisce about the past usually with rose tinted specs , and telling me how much he loves me as an attempt to pacify me after I've told him for the third time to STFU whilst I'm trying to watch my favourite program and he wants to tell me his tediously annoying because I could quote them word for word views on the government for the one millionth time. He's interesting but dominates conversation and has a tendency towards pessimism. I regularly tell him he's a grumpy old man and to snap out of it. Hes an extrovert and I'm an introvert so we're a bit mismatched.

Football, cricket, NFL, in depth descriptions of programmes I didn’t watch because I wasn’t interested. He can talk for an hour without me responding. Only stops if I disagree with anything.

His work, people he's met that day, politics, funny stuff that made him laugh that day, and our DC.

Warmhandscoldheart · 25/09/2021 15:20

Why he's not going to mow the lawns for 3 weeks.
Panic buying of petrol, we don't own a car and both walk to work.
Victoria Coren-Mitchell's red hair, her parting, the too bright colour. He fancied her but not now. Red hair is a turn off apparently, I have Auburn red hair 😄

Sheesh, this thread makes me think I've gotten very lucky with my DH! He never talks 'at' me.
