Awake in the night...

I can hear the wind gusting off the nearby ocean.... the crunching of chicken as the cats enjoy a midnight feast..

Woke up at 5 and couldn’t get back to sleep. No idea what woke me but I could not hear anything.

But now the kettle is boiling 😋

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 24/09/2021 06:27

Birds waking up and singing about the new day ahead.

Radiator slowly clunking.

The dog padding about on the wooden floors downstairs. ‘Hurumphing’ when she resettles herself down.

Occasionally, in the distance. a car.

Burnamer · 24/09/2021 06:31

My dog snoring (his head is in my lap).

InnPain · 24/09/2021 06:34

@Sparklfairy 🤢 groce

ISpyCobraKai · 24/09/2021 06:36

My TV, I'm watching food vlogs.
The trains are just starting up too, the train line is behind my house.

@Midnightstar76

I know it sounds bonkers but I can hear what sounds like electricity fizzing or my radiators but it can’t be radiators as they are mist definitely switched off. Can also hear the occasional sigh and snore of husband.
That isn't bonkers, I am sorry but it sounds like you have Tinnitus, which I was just about to give as my answer to the OP's question! If you are lucky it will be similar to my DH's and mine, we only hear it when it is very quiet, like now.

The sea, traffic, ds2 snoring through the baby monitor, seagulls, dd1 thumping around in her bedroom

psbradio2 · 24/09/2021 06:47

My fan.

It's evening here, the log fire getting going. Outside, wind lashing in trees.

SoloISland · 24/09/2021 09:37

The rising wind drowning all else out... Windsong and rainmusic.

Very glad I have a clock that does not tick.
Door curtain flapping in the wind.

My breathing.

Tapping fingers on laptop keys.

Ears throbbing quietly as a leitmotif.

My breathing loud in my ears, and pain almost audible in that weird crossover of sensual awareness,

But over all, the rising wind that scours the island clean of trees etc.

Oooh, one of the best sounds ever has just kicked in: rain falling on the metal roof of my house.

sueelleker · 24/09/2021 09:58

Birdsong in the garden, and the dog water fountain in the kitchen bubbling gently!
