Going on holiday to Turkey

What are peoples experience of holidaying in Turkey, does it feel safe? I don't know why I've always felt it wasn't a safe country to travel to, as it borders with Syria.
Is there a lot of tension when you are there and as a woman are you required to cover up your shoulders etc?
We have found a fantastic holiday which I think will be amazing for our family but not sure if I will spend the whole holiday worrying.

I would go on a family holiday but not alone or with a group of girls. I’m blonde and have been on my own and with my mum. On my own was horrendous getting hassled (mainly by the entertainment staff at the 5* hotel!!) and then with my mum it was similar, everywhere you go they’re hassling you to go into restaurants, even during the day when you just want to wander about and do some shopping. It’s quite similar to Marrakech in that regard.

We've been twice
Always felt safe
Once was 2012
Last time was about four years ago
Very friendly people and beautiful places to visit and the sea was just heaven !!

Thank you for all your replies. It's very reassuring. But also a bit eye opening that the hassling of women still does happen shocking that x

I don't want to go into details of my recent Turkey experience. This will give you some idea though :(

@Bobby5123 Sadly it's not exclusive to Turkey. It happens to tourists of all nationalities worldwide while on holiday, even
on cruises.

I agree. But Turkey is particularly bad for it and the chance of getting justice in a sexual assault case is slim to none. I found a statistic online from a survey taken with Turkish police officers. 33% of them thought that some women deserve to be raped.

I've heard stories from so many women that have been to Turkey. As soon as they're alone and at night they're vulnerable and a lot of vile Turkish men will try and take advantage.

Any suggestions for activities outside of resort in Antalya area?
