Haunted house stories!

I've been inspired to ask for your haunted house stories. Last night I made myself jump by thinking my hanging dressing gown was a shadowy figure in my bedroom, but it made me remember years ago when I thought my partner at the time was sleepwalking, which he did do from time to time. I woke up because it was really cold and saw what I thought was him. He was very tall, 6ft 7, and I could see him standing at the foot of our bed slightly rocking from side to side. I called his name and the rocking stopped and there was just suddenly an intense creepy feeling. I said "Dave, stop it! Come back to bed!" And his sleepy voice came from beside me, where he was IN BED with me, saying "what are you on about? I'm here!"
Obviously I pulled the covers straight over my head and lay there shaking in fright! He turned the light on and there was nothing there but he did also remark on how freezing the room had become.

A few years later, in the same house, I came home and the kitchen taps were both turned on full force. I had left the house empty and returned to it alone. That was spooky.

So, anyone else got a haunted house story? There are always lots of haunted pub, haunted graveyard/forest stories, but I'm interested in haunted residences!

I reckon I have a mischievous ghost following me around.

As a child, I used to wake up sometimes with my bed shaking, or with it depressed like someone was sitting on it. I used to tell it crossly to stop it and go back to bed.

In this house, I remember sitting on the couch, leaning forward, and a toy seemingly dropping out of the air and rolling down my back. Was odd indeed.

Lots of things going missing then turning up in a very obvious place - stuff like tweezers though, which are very easily overlooked.

I don’t feel any presence at all, am about as sensitive as a brick in that regard and don’t believe in the afterlife or anything like that at all.

The scariest things that happen are when I see myself in the dark window or something!

Not a house but.. See what you think. lol.. I live on a small Irish island, One day a few months ago when I was gardening, I heard the bell at the small unused church which I had been taking care of until it was closed ringing. It rang seven times.
I phoned someone who is a keyholder thinking they had left it unlocked and someone was in there and potentially doing damage.
No he said, It IS locked. And NO if it is something supernatural I am not going to intervene, the brave man opined..
So I walked all the way there , not easy for my old legs, and very concerned.
Doors well and truly locked and the bell and rope are inside the church. No one could have rung that bell. No human hand.
All very odd..

Re some stories. I’ve never seen anything myself but have had strange feelings in certain buildings (not saying which as will out me).

Funnily enough in my last yoga studio I tried to go to I got strange vibes there, felt a bit “off”. Bad ventilation anyway but up steep metal stairs by side of building next to a train station. I could do yoga there but didn’t feel comfortable at all.

Mentioned this to two friends one who’s a reiki person, other one does Pilates and they said I’m sensitive to this stuff. But never seen a ghost as such.

I don’t discount anything which has happened to others and feel something is out there but a few disbelievers say nothings ever been proved etc. My point is, why, if nothing has ever been proved re ghosts not existing etc have there been stories time abc time again and quite a few which you probably can’t explain as pipes, rats/mice, travelling noise etc.

SoloISland. That is very weird and very creepy sounding. Have you asked anyone in the area if they can offer any explanation?

When I was about 15 I stayed over at a rich friend’s very large, old house in the countryside outside London. Her room was in an attic conversion and the moonlight was streaming in through the roof window as we all settled down to sleep on the floor. In the middle of the night I woke up and happened to look across the room and saw three ghostly figures standing together. Two men and a woman. They looked like Jesus and Mary (at least their depictions in Western art) in that they all had very long hair and plain robes or dresses. I said something like “Oh my god!” loudly enough to wake up all of my friends. When they switched the lights on, they saw tears running down my cheeks. I hadn’t even realized I was crying. There was one thought running through my mind, which was “I’m going to have to kill myself now”. I don’t know why I thought that. It felt like what I had seen was too much for my brain to cope with, and I knew I just couldn’t live with that knowledge, and I had to die. I did end up trying later that year. Luckily I never saw anything like that again.
