Creative hobby that does't take up much space?

I feel like I'd like to make time to be creative in some way, to get some creative juices flowing (lol) and be a way to relax and refocus.

Years ago I used to draw/paint a bit, I was quite good at art in high school but then it just stopped (I think seeing amazing talented artists online put me off as I was nowhere near as good. I know art is subjective but I just lost the will to try.

But I feel like I'd like to try something that a) isn't expensive to do and b) doesn't leave loads of materials lying around because I'm trying to be good and have less mess, which can be an uphill battle at times.

I'm not good at languages so that is out, also not good at things like knitting or cooking/baking. Art seems to be the one thing I was decent at and I have a space I could do it in but don't want loads of stuff lying around.

Any ideas? What creative hobbies do you do yourself? Thanks.

How about Sourdough as a hobby, I’m not really much of a cook but got into making my own sourdough in lockdown and has opened up a whole new world! The whole process is quite therapeutic I’ve found, you just need space for different types of flour, some equipment, but you don’t necessarily need a lot. You can be quite as arty as you like with it, Instagram is the place to look, so many sourdough hobbiests on there, some of the bread looks too good to eat.

There’s quite a big community of snail mailers who do mail art and produce bits and pieces to send to their pen pals. I’ve done a fair amount of collaged designs with mine. In addition I keep an art journal - although I’d like to dedicate more time to it than I currently do.

I'd thought about trying sour dough mmm but was worried I'd mess it up! Maybe I could give it a go though. Sending things to pen pals sounds interesting and an art journal would be fun, thanks!
