Guess the year based on names...

Inspired by a thread in baby names (and an overwhelming desire to put off work I'm supposed to be doing!), can you guess the approximate year of birth of a poster based on the most popular names of peers in their class?

So mine. Comp school in the Midlands.

@Tillyscoutsmum You are much warmer than @LBirch02! I did think as I typed my post that my year group would be hard to guess. It was a Catholic school so there were lots of classic names. There was a Wayne in my class too, to be fair, and a Darren. We were born 1986-87.

ChronicallyMe · 29/08/2021 14:07

1996-1997!

TartanJumper · 29/08/2021 14:12

I was going to say late 50s, because of Lisa and Tina

There was a Lisa in my year group! (must have been born around 88/89), and a Tina a couple of years ahead! We also had a Susan and a Ellen, though, I assume they were named after older relatives.

"14:06. GiantKitten

80sMum

I reckon 1956

Good guess! Correct decade. Only a couple of years out.

GiantKitten, late fifties is correct! We were all born between Sept 1957 and August 1958.

They are 70 and 80s names so hard to narrow down to an exact year.
Tillyscoutsmum · 29/08/2021 14:59

@NotMyCat I'd go 90s I think. 94/95?

@WeDidntMeanToGoToSea so close!

Tillyscoutsmum · 29/08/2021 15:00

Do we think Sarah is probably the name that spans the most generations??

1940s and possibly in Wales? Mind you the Margaret and Marjorie could be born 1920s.

I'd say the male names from the new testament are some of the ones that have stayed around through different decades.
