Anyone know where I can get a wipe clean table cloth that isn't madly expensive?

I need a round 180cm one but I don't want to spend over £50 as it's for the kids to ruin. I'm having no joy but admittedly I'm only looking online. any pointers gratefully received :-)

B&m sell cheap wipe clean tablecloths they are around £6-9

KaptainKaveman · 29/08/2021 08:46

@Lucked

Do you mean like an oil cloth or pvc? Dunelm sells them from the roll for about £3 - 4 a metre
Yep, Dunelm is great. Ours has lasted years and looks great after a wipe with a bit of cif.

John Lewis and a lot of places do a plain see through plastic table cloth which you just put over any other cloth you like.

LordOfTheThings · 29/08/2021 08:48

Another vote for Dunelm.

@VinoBianca

Thanks, looks like I'll have to nip to Dunelm! I looked at Next but couldn't see any big enough. Will check out the Jolee ones too - I also looked at them but when I selected the size I needed the price shot up!
The range do it too if you have one of them near you :)
delilahbucket · 29/08/2021 08:49

For that width you are not going to get one cheaply. Fabric tends to only be made at circa 140cm width.

LittleCatDog · 29/08/2021 08:59

@AlphabetAerobics

I got 240 from Amazon for under £20. Too much choice!
Yep! Amazon has loads, search oil skin tablecloth, my parents got one over 200cm for the GC the other day for under £20 and it's really nice

I am pretty sure the ones in dunelm won't be wide enough, it's a standard roll, maybe 45 inches (...or is it 54?) so no good for OP's 180cm table.

VinoBianca · 29/08/2021 09:15

I'm obviously crap at Amazon searching as I can only find one round one at 180cm/70 inch!

Yes, if like me op is looking for 180cm ROUND table cloth then a cut off piece from a standard roll isn't wide enough (e.g. the rolls on the eBay link are all too narrow).

It's annoying op. I had this one from Dunelm which is vv cheap and nearly 180cm, but like you I found the range of patterns quite limited when you can't choose from the whole range.

It's very expensive when you buy off the roll because they need to use a non-standard size roll.

RaspberrySchnapps · 29/08/2021 09:18

another vote for Dunelm oil cloth, they cut it off a roll to the size you want. we've had ours for years and still going strong. bargain.

BeyondMyWits · 29/08/2021 09:21

If it is for "the kids to ruin" why does the pattern matter?

ditalini · 29/08/2021 09:21

Dunelm pvc fabric by the metre is only 132cm wide.

bumblingbovine49 · 29/08/2021 09:25

Dunhelm

178cm diameter £8

itsgettingwierd · 29/08/2021 09:26

@JuneOsborne

Dunelm sell it by the roll. You cut what you need. They often have end of rolls in the sale.
That's what I did!

It comes as Square but it's easy to use on a round table.

It's also really durable.

OasisOfFerns · 29/08/2021 09:26

I have this one from dunelm. Its 160cm though but very reasonably priced.

VinoBianca · 29/08/2021 09:26

Thanks @ditalini
@BeyondMyWits I just don't want something that looks awful in my kitchen as it'll be on the table a lot!

VinoBianca · 29/08/2021 09:29

Thanks @OasisOfFerns - your link shows me they actually have this one www.dunelm.com/product/country-hens-round-pvc-tablecloth-1000084778

I don't hate it and it fits the brief so I guess I'll go for this!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 29/08/2021 11:17

actually, is 180 the diameter of the top of the table or the size of cloth with some draping over the sides??

I only buy enough to sit on the top of the table, like a giant table mat, because I used to find as oilcloth is stiffish, any that hangs over the end gets caught on laps as people get up and it tends to push the table bit up and cause spills

Also if you cut it square it doesn't drape evenly or nicely. So I cut mine the exact size of the table top and then with a clean cloth wrung out in very hot water I wipe over the table and throw the cloth on, wipe that with the hot cloth too and it seems to suction it on so there's no slipping.

That would likely reduce the width you needed and give you way more choice pattern wise.
