Alton Towers Tips

I have two teens and we've booked 2 nights in the hotel and 2 Park tickets at AT and we're wondering about how to make the most of it.
We've made reservations for two dinners, one at the Rollercoaster Restaurant and one at the Secret Garden. Plus two breakfasts at the Crooked Spoon.

We are planning to have packed lunches so we don't have to queue for food while the park is open. We are planning on going to the big rides first while numbers are low, plus I've downloaded the app.
Any other tips?? Are the restaurants any good?
We could get fast passes but they seem quite expensive - are they worth it?

We went a few weeks ago. It is huge, and took us a while to work out how to use the skyliner to get across the park.

We ate at The Tavern in Denstone one night. Decent food, reasonably priced and got Domino's the other. Food in the park was dire.

@couchparsnip

I love the Runaway Mine Train! Excellent idea about going on that last and not getting in the queue.

Hopefully the Rollercoaster will make up for the rubbishness of the food. I'm under no illusions that they'll make good food when they have such a captive audience.

I've booked one of our breakfasts at Secret Garden now. Is it inside the park?
One more thing - if anyone has been on rides recently, I'm a bit rubbish on rides that spin around, up and down and upside is fine but waltzers make me sick.

Is there anything that I should definitley avoid?

Don’t go on the funk n fly ride if you don’t like spinning. Only ride that’s ever made me feel like throwing up

We went for the day 2 weeks ago. Only got on 3 "big" rides and Duel (which was surprisingly fun and better than I remembered. Queue times on the app were a load of rubbish. Do Wicker Man first, 40 mins versus 100 minutes waiting the whole rest of the day. Smiler is ace but the theming in the queue is so irritating.

We took all our own grub, the food there is abysmal.

Thanks all! We ended up getting Fast passes for the kids as it was really busy - Hour long queues at least on all the big rides and a two hour wait for Rita!
I was brave and went on the Navigator, Nemesis, Oblivion and Wickerman. Excellent fun! The tip about Duel was great - we loved that and we all liked Hex too. Not too long a wait for that.
I wished I could have gone on 13. It sounded amazing from the kids' description. Next time!
We had dinner at the Rollercoaster Restaurant, which was fun and the food was OK. Breakfast at the Crooked Spoon was your standard hotel buffet sort of thing

Glad you had a good time!

You are braver than me, I've never had the nerve to get on Oblivion!
