The best Robin Hood was...

I'm currently watching Robin of Sherwood on ITV4 and Michael Praed will always be the ultimate Robin Hood for me. Jason Connery was a poor second.
The long dark hair, those cheekbones...mmmm.

@Inextremis

Richard Greene :)
Yes, I loved rushing home from school to watch him. I had a shock when I found out it was in black and white, I swear I saw it in colour.
missbunnyrabbit · 23/08/2021 16:16

I have a soft spot for Jonas Armstrong, because his series really got me into Robin Hood.

DeadButDelicious · 23/08/2021 16:33

The fox. Obviously.

Closed followed by Cary Elwes.

Richard Greene was my first crush too! But I am old…

GrouchyKiwi · 23/08/2021 16:37

Cary Elwes. Then the fox.

Knittedfairies · 23/08/2021 16:43

Another vote for Richard Greene; I'm another from that era... All together now:

'Robin Hood, Robin Hood,
Riding through the glen,
Robin Hood, Robin Hood,
With his band of men,
Feared by the bad, loved by the good,
Robin Hood! Robin Hood! Robin Hood!'

StarryNight468 · 23/08/2021 16:46

The fox and then men in tights

Seventimesaday · 23/08/2021 16:48

Michael Praed. Swoon.

thelegohooverer · 23/08/2021 16:50

@Knittedfairies that reminds me of the wedding I heard of (probably an urban myth) where the bride requested “the Robin Hood song” from the bemused elderly organist who wasn’t quite up to date with the Kevin Costner/Bryan Adams hit. So she found herself walking down the aisle to the tune of “Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Riding through the glen” played solemnly on the organ.

MrsMoastyToasty · 23/08/2021 16:50

@CluelessHamster he was mine, mine, mine!

Can't make my mind up about Robin Hood, but far and away the best Sheriff of Nottingham has to be Alan Rickman.

VeganVeal · 23/08/2021 16:53

Patrick Troughton

AnneShirleysNewDress · 23/08/2021 16:58

Jonas Armstrong for me.

DameAlyson · 23/08/2021 17:04

Richard Greene was 'my' Robin Hood, too.

Patrick Troughton

Grin Grin Grin

What about Patrick Stewart, in that episode where Q sent them to Sherwood Forest? He looked quite good in tights, as I recall.

Brollypackedforscottishholiday · 23/08/2021 17:07

Kevin Costner surely?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 23/08/2021 17:10

If we're having a Sherwood-Forest based singalong, I'm going for

Dod a doo doo doo da doo doo doo da doo da doo da doo....

Easily the best Robin Hood music.

mongoosebaby · 23/08/2021 17:14

I came to say the fox, obviously! And yes to the pp who said Alan Rickman was the best sheriff. Fact.

Standrewsschool · 23/08/2021 17:16

Michael Praed - set my teenage hormones on fire

The best Robin Hood was...
JennetHumfrye · 23/08/2021 17:17

The fox but a close second is Michael Praed!

GrouchyKiwi · 23/08/2021 17:24

Robin Hood and Little John, walking through the forest
Laughing back and forth at what the other’n has to say
Reminiscing this and that and having such a good time
Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, golly, what a day

Never ever thinking there was danger in the water
They were drinking, they just guzzled it down
Never dreaming that a scheming sheriff and his posse
Was a-watching them and gathering around

Robin Hood and Little John, running through the forest
Jumping fences, dodging trees and trying to get away
Contemplating nothing but escape and finally making it
Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, golly, what a day

Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, golly, what a day

Rubyupbeat · 23/08/2021 17:34

John Cleese, Time bandits Grin

mrshonda · 23/08/2021 17:38

Errol Flynn, Patrick Bergin and Michael Praed - all wonderful for different reasons. And I adore the fox!

IchHabeSiebenFlowers · 23/08/2021 17:47
  1. The fox
  2. Errol Flynn
  3. Cary Elwes

But the best film was Prince of Thieves.
Best scene involving a pancake: Maid Marian and her Merry Men

LubaLuca · 23/08/2021 17:49

@Rubyupbeat

John Cleese, Time bandits Grin
I'm glad someone agrees with me Grin
mafted · 23/08/2021 17:49

Wayne Morris from Maid Marian
The Fox one
Kevin Costner
