Just going in a church anytime you need

I've never been religious but am having a very difficult and sad time. I've thought it might be helpful to go and sit in a church and take a moment to pause and think and maybe feel hope.

Can I just walk into a church and sit? Are they open all the time?

Apologies if this is ridiculous, I've only ever been on a sunday as a child.

Most churches should be open now

Well, lots of Churches aren't just left unlocked.

However, if it is open, then yes, you are very welcome to just go in and sit a while Smile

My churches were all left open before covid, but now we can only open them when we have volunteers available to clean them between visitors. So we open on certain days that we advertise. However my number is outside the churches and if someone phoned me (or emailed or sent a message to the church Facebook page) as long as I wasn't at a meeting I would pop over and let you in.
I am in wales so I'm not sure how our covid regs compare to England

Im not sure either @Tiggles, I've googled the church near me and they are still doing streamed services which makes me think they are shut. I can only try cant I, this thread has been lovely and shown me how kind people are.
