@NotWanting you know what it's like, nothing happens fast lol. Still waiting but I've got vertigo so I'm glad to be lying still atm

Do you think they will be keeping you in for a few more days ? Have they even suggested what it might be ? Do you suspect anything ?

Hope you are okay Flowers

blissfulllife · 17/08/2021 19:39

@NotWanting still no scan. Hospital is so busy. They've mentioned possible MS. I've had strange numbness, vertigo and double vision on and off over the last 4 years. I will be in for a few days as I've got to learn how to change my catheter bag and how to self catheterise. Hopefully this flaming vertigo settles before I've got to spend an hour in an MRI machine. Thanks for asking xx

This sounds like cauda equina. If you've been having other neuro symptoms, it is usually from a herniated disc in the lumbar spine.
This can be treated. Hope you are OK.

Akire · 17/08/2021 19:57

Self cath is easy as using tampon but imagine tricky with vertigo as you need to see where you are aiming! A would suggest doing it laying down with mirror and bed pan at least till you get the hang. You can’t have multiple attempts because cross continuation so bulls eye is important! All the best.

YogaLite · 17/08/2021 20:05

OP, hope u get a diagnosis and advice soon.
Please update again, I might PM u at some point in the future as my ds is having similar neuro symptoms and we are waiting for a bladder scan referral.

caringcarer · 17/08/2021 20:35

Definitely A&E. My sister had this happen to her in each of her 4 pregnancies during weeks 6 to 13 after that got better. She had to be catheterised and a bag strapped to her leg.

NotWanting · 17/08/2021 20:42

From your list of symptoms MS came to my mind too (I have it). Let's hope the MRI brain and spine scan is clear and it's something simpler Flowers

MrsRockAndRoll · 17/08/2021 20:47

Glad you're more comfortable but hope the rot cause is established & treated

blissfulllife · 19/08/2021 10:30

Hospital is soooo busy that instead of a doctor coming and telling me I have MS I actually found out when an MS nurse came to talk to me. I'm stunned. Going to be here for a week while I have some treatment. Thanks everyone for replying it's made me feel a little less alone x

A&E now, this could be serious

SingingInTheShithouse · 19/08/2021 15:36

Just seen your update.sorry

Sorry for the bad news, my DM was diagnosed with MS & they thought I had it too & my daughter when she ended up in a wheelchair. Mine & DDs turned out to be pernicious anaemia. Turned out DM had that diagnosis at 13 too, but it wasn't treat properly back in her day. Deficiency can mimic MS & if it is PA, it can be helped or even reversed with B12 injections

Make sure they fully rule that out too as it's often missed

itstoohotinhere · 19/08/2021 15:37

Sending you feeling better wishes. I'm sorry you had to find out the way you did. Take care

Even though its a shock, the nurses are usually far better educated about these illnesses then the doctors. My fathers diabetic nurses are amazing, the consultant is useless.
Chaotica · 19/08/2021 15:45

Flowers @blissfulllife Wishing you well.

OldTinHat · 19/08/2021 15:56

What a shock OP - and you sound so calm. Probably not inside. Just wanted to wish you all the best in managing your diagnosis Flowers

OldTinHat · 19/08/2021 15:57

Just to say I'd tried to send flowers but I guess gin is better!
