Would I be mad to consider a trip to stay overnight in Edinburgh during the Fringe festival? Would be to go to the zoo, and stay over for 1 night, and we wouldn't be doing any of the Fringe events I don't think.

Last minute ideas for a birthday trip!

@covetingthepreciousthings
There's a zoo about 15 minutes outside Edinburgh if you specifically want the zoo?
It's called 5 sisters.
You could do Edinburgh zoo in one afternoon or you could spend the whole day. It's what you make of it.

I’d say that a one night stay isn’t enough, given that you can’t usually check-in after 4, and out the next morning.

If you can get the accommodation you want, there is nothing mad about it.

I went to Edinburgh back in July and loved the Ghost Bus tour. It is definitely suitable for kids. I had to pre-book as it was very popular. The company runs a Ghost Bus tour in central London along the same lines and I have done quite a few tours with them with various different friends and family members.
