Are YOU a performance beach goer?

At the beach yesterday. So many families arrived with bags and bags of stuff - some even with festival trolleys. Shelter up, double rugs on sand, windbreak, chairs, elaborate picnic. Kids into sun suits, then sun cream rubbed into all exposed bits approx every 10 mins.

40 min set up. Sit for an hour. Then dismantle and clear off.

Great spectator sport.

I get envious of people with the trollies, chairs, the lot! I LOVE how organised they are and I’m ridiculously jealous its not me!

I have 1 lovely DS and i take his bag with a change of clothes, nappies, wipes (all the usual shit for a toddler) and more often than not a plastic bag with some crips/juice and a couple lunch time meal deals 😂

I’ve also found people with the carts etc are often so kind. We once had a lovely family approach us on a beech and offer our DS a bucket and spade to play with and gave him a sweetie!

@mafted

What's with all these children getting bored at the beach? Confused
Yup, but depends on their group ages. I'm lucky in that I live by the sea, but the younger they are the more than can be encouraged to get engaged. I now have 3 teens and a tween. The tween still LOVES it but most of her friends are kinda 'Meh'.

I’m somewhere in between the extremes I think. Like to have sun cream for the kids, always love a bucket and spade each for them. Have our folding camp chairs and a towel. That’s about it. I never take food because that’s what fish and chips and beach donuts are for 😂 Never bother with and kind of windbreaks or shelter either, seems way too much to carry!

I pack like this so I can stay all day. I love the beach but also love shade and comfort.

I got zipped up into my own sun tent once by a woman who didn’t want her dh looking at my ‘tits’

I was bf my toddler sat just inside it and she was NOT happy at all, came over and zipped it up and said ‘there! Dignity for you and out of my husbands view’

PressuresOn · 08/08/2021 13:36

Sorry posted too soon I undid it and looked out for her to say ‘I hope your tits have been put away now’
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Oh yes I get that older kids might not be into it but IME at that stage they wouldn't be into any of the things you might bring to do at the beach either.
My comment was more referring to posts bringing lots of activities for children to do at the beach. In my mind the beach is the activity.
