@Whitedeer Is that all you lazy woman.

Also Chat to the rooster, pat Mitzi who has a good funny leg post eagle attack, but is a very sweet bird.

We need to hear more about this.

I'm absolutely idle, just ask the donkeys, they'll tell you!
Mitzi is an old Isa Brown hen, and she's well past laying but very personable. She likes people and while we've never tried to tame her or make her into a pet she just became very friendly over time and loves a pat and a ruffle of her breast feathers. The flock live in a fox proof house with a fox proof yard. They run over about an eighth of an acre. We lost two hens over a week and couldn't work out how it happened. Then one day saw a honking great wedge-tailed eagle with it's talons in a hen's back. DP, I the dogs and I rushed to the rescue and the eagle launched and flew off. Poor Mitzi had deep wounds in her back. I wouldn't like to describe the look on the vet's face when we rushed her into his surgery but I bet he dined out on the story.
Mitzi survived, she was carefully nursed for weeks but she made it. She was left with some neurological damage from spinal cord compression by the talons. She has one leg that works normally and one game leg but she gets around.
The hen yard now has anti-aircraft devices

@Whitedeer
Do you enjoy your day? I’m knackered just reading about it Blush

sashh · 03/08/2021 07:42

@Whitedeer you sound like you have a fab life but I'm sure it is hard work.

I'd relish having the house to myself.

I'd involve a leisurely breakfast, takeaway for dinner, lots of reading, a dance around the kitchen with music blasting, yoga, a bubble bath, more reading, a bit of TV and possibly a walk around the block. Mostly cake and reading.

searchingforanything · 03/08/2021 17:16

In my head I would have planned a lie in, then breakfast in bed or the garden depending on weather, read a book for a bit, then a pamper with a long hot bubble bath, nails, face mask etc. Then I'd put a good old film on, eating crap and then maybe go to bed to make the most of all the space being on my own.

In reality...I know I'd spend it catching up on the jobs that need doing round the house !

I have this quite regularly when dh takes kids to his parents - I used to have friends round but these days I love love love the time to myself.
This is what I do:
Jog
Tidy up
Find a really good podcast to listen to while jogging and tidying
Get a yummy tea that only I love
Buy a newspaper
Red wine and treats
Does me the world of good

I’d potter in the house and garden, go shopping, go to a cafe, go to a museum, buy something lovely for dinner, eat it in front of a good film with some wine, go to bed. It sounds absolute bliss.

This is my norm, but I do have a Jack Russell terrier. Today I: woke at 6.30, put some washing on, and packed my swimming things, dog's water and breakfast kibble, a flask of coffee for me. We walked to the beach, I had a swim, dog stood on edge waiting, there were a few other regular sea swimmers around, and a couple of their dogs, so nice chat after swim, drank my coffee. Dog played on the beach shared (reluctantly) his breakfast and water. Walked home. Hung washing out, ate my breakfast of porridge yoghurt, banana, blueberries, chia seed. Dog sat outside in the warm sunshine. Did a bit of work in my studio, made some calls, settled dog down with classic FM while I went into town alone. Bought tickets for me and two friends for a band on Sat night, did some other shopping including getting a new phone cos mine on the blink. Home. Took flowers and a card round to a friend who has a birthday tomorrow. Home. Gave dog an early tea, cos he was being ott affectionate which usually means he's feeling very hungry. Made myself a massive salad. Ate. That's it so far. Watching TV with a decaff coffee now.
