Those look amazing Bikerunski. Enjoy. Not looking fab out my window (Leeds). And as I’ve got a dodgy stomach I’m just eating toast. But in spirit I shall be eating Yorkshire puds and gravy in solidarity. Happy Yorkshire Day everyone.

I didn't know that God's Own Country had its own day. A new one for me.

Better get some Wensleydale cheese to mark the occasion.

Happy Yorkshire Day! A beautiful place (after Wales of course!)

I’ve just had a cup of Yorkshire tea to celebrate

Crinkle77 · 01/08/2021 13:07

Happy Yorkshire Day from a fellow Lancastrian 😂

Ethelswith · 01/08/2021 13:36

I live in exile in a different part of the country

I marked the day with the morning brew in the 'Yorkshire Lass' mug

I’m a southern import, 23 years ago. DM joined me (and her Barnsley born grandchildren and my Sheffielder DH)up her. It was the least I could do to cook her a roast with Yorkshire puds on Yorkshire Day x

RampantIvy · 01/08/2021 15:57

DD is the only locally born member of our household too @BikeRunSki.

SquirryTheSquirrel · 01/08/2021 16:05

Southern import too but I've been here 20 years now so gradually getting naturalised!

BikeRunSki · 01/08/2021 16:06

I believe we’ve “met”before @RampantIvy.

People in England’s biggest county consider themselves more Yorkshire than English, according to an online survey.

The Yorkshire Society’s Big Yorkshire Conversation had more than 4,500 responses collated by the University of Hull.

The county has more than five million inhabitants.

Stewart Arnold, from the university, said: “It isn’t saying they are not English but they just feel more Yorkshire”.

BBC article, here.

Glorious evening in Yorkshire now. Celebrating with a proper brew!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/08/2021 18:11

That doesn’t surprise me at all.

It was so beautiful when we were driving home over the Wolds, I am considering becoming one of those people who never goes further than Harrogate - ‘I went to that London twenty five years ago but I didn’t like it, too many people’ kind of thing.

SunshineCake · 01/08/2021 18:13

How did I get to 49 and I've never heard of Yorkshire Day ?Shock

RampantIvy · 01/08/2021 18:30

Sun is shining now

"What finer way to acknowledge Yorkshire Day than to let you know that Yorkshire currently has more Olympic medals than either France or Germany."

It's also Joe Elliott's birthday. One of Yorkshire's best exports. Happy Yorkshire day folks.

My little Dd is 3 today - she was born in York on Yorkshire Day. I was sat about in the maternity ward afterward waiting for my medal or complimentary pint of bitter but, alas, nothing.

I got my own little Yorkshire Pudding, though and that was the best prize ever - she is amazing.

Happy Yorkshire Day everyone!

RampantIvy · 01/08/2021 20:40

Happy birthday to your little Yorkshire lass @AngelicaElizaAndPeggy Cake
