Is it me, or is there a Diet Coke shortage?

My nearest corner shop has stopped stocking it. The next nearest has just bottles (but both cans and bottles of full fat). Other shops have had noticeably fewer cans of Diet Coke on their shelves.

Yes! Last week’s shopping delivery, went to check out with own brand diet cola, none of that so swapped it for Diet Coke. Then it arrives and it’s been substituted for Coke Zero. It doesn’t taste as nice!

@Monestera

See it as a good thing. Fizzy drinks are one of the biggest contributors to poor health.

And I must say, this comment is typical of this country and the discrimination that coke-drinkers experience on a daily basis. I'd like to see someone expect tea-drinkers to forego their hourly cuppa or the coffee-drinkers to view their lattes as a "luxury" Hmm

I was a Diet Coke addict years ago.

Having given it up, and also all caffeine and dairy 3 months ago and now reaping the health benefits I’d be saying the same thing to them as well.

We know smoking causes disease. Fizzy drinks do as well. You might not want to admit it, but it’s not “discrimination” to point it out!

They've probably made less stock for many reasons (covid, pingdemic, brexit ingredient hold ups) and now are supplying pubs and restaurants, leaving us home birds fizzy less.

Well don’t you deserve a big fucking flashing badge.
No doubt powered by your own self-satisfaction.

Grin To be fair, I love people who beat their diet coke addiction, leaves more available to feed mine. My local Tesco only has the lime or strawberry... Hmm Fortunately my local shop is seemingly commited to supporting my needs in these difficult times! Smile

Non-drinker tells coke-drinkers how they're doing coke wrong Hmm Of course it's discrimination. It's not like alcoholism - we have to drink to live, it's not something we can just do without.

I've not been able to get Rubicon sparkling water for a few weeks

iamtopazmortmain · 30/07/2021 21:05

My Lidl has not had any Pepsi Max in for a couple of months now - no idea why. I can get it from Farm Foods in the bigger bottles.

I am more worried about the big gaps in the fresh meat and bread aisle though.

I have found my people. Absolutely f@&(*$g love the stuff! Had to admit to a Consultant the extent of my addiction recently, he told me to cut down but I could still have "some". Not sure he meant my 8+ can a day habit though 😂
WaterIsBest · 30/07/2021 21:11

Theres def a bottled water one

Snozzlemaid · 30/07/2021 21:16

I've been struggling to get sparkling water for a few weeks.
Went to Aldi today and they had plenty.

RoseRedRoseBlue · 30/07/2021 21:16

Loads of gaps in our local Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. Barely any cereal products, minimal bread and no bottles of Pepsi Max

Monestera · 30/07/2021 21:20

All three cupboard staples Sad

Except you absolutely have not evolved to drink coke, have you. You can do without, you don’t want to. That’s different. It’s a choice, not a need.

You wanna get out more. None of that shit in this house.

No bread? no porridge? No pop?

You sound like a barrel of laughs.Wink If that's what happens when you go out more, I'll stay in. Grin

@Monestera

From my understanding supermarkets are prioritising deliveries of necessities over things that people can cope without.

That doesn’t explain why they aren’t prioritising Diet Coke Confused Wink

No worries
Pepsi is better than coke anyway!!!

There is nothing shit about Frosties and Coke! You do realise that Frosties is fortified with vitamins? Vitamins are good for you.

MysweetAudrina · 30/07/2021 21:52

Only drink zero and dh Pepsi max. I hate the aftertaste of diet.

Abraxan · 30/07/2021 21:53

No issues buying Diet Coke here in Sheffield yesterday. Waitrose had shelves of it.

Monestera · 30/07/2021 21:54

That’s different. It’s a choice, not a need.

Diet Coke is 99% water and we need water to live. We need it more than we need food. Even Frosties.

My local shop is practically bare and they keep closing early due to lack of staff and deliveries.

I a missing pepsi Max, my favourite wine, certain vegetables, eggs and bread! Everyone is in isolation apparently Sad

CarbsAreNotMyFriend · 30/07/2021 21:59

Yes!! It's a fairly major worry of mine that there will be proper shortages!

MyHairNeedsASnip · 30/07/2021 22:02

Yep, it's not been in stock for 3 weeks on the bounce on the Asda delivery 😔
