I had never seen her perform so I am currently down a YouTube rabbit hole and I am awe struck.She is phenomenally, jaw droppingly talented and you can just tell how much she loves it. She is a complete joy to watch. She has shown such courage in prioritising her mental health over what is expected from her.

I've just seen that Simone will be competing in the balance beam tomorrow. I've no idea what time but think I would be too nervous to watch anyway! Fingers crossed for her.

Was very pleased indeed to hear today that she's competing on the beam. Good.

Swimmer Adam Peaty announced today :

Peaty to take break for mental recharge.

Everyone seems very accepting of this.

Peaty hasn’t done it in the middle of the olympics, before completing the competition.

Not judging, just saying it would have been a lot more news worthy if he’d done it after one prelim and not competed in any other races or finals.

Have to agree that Peaty is not directly comparable coming after his events are finished and his medals one.

To be honest, I find it more weird that it's considered newsworthy at all. Taking time off after an Olympics is what most athletes do as far as I can tell... get married, see family, make hard decision about whether to keep going for another cycle.
