Moving to Poole

Can anyone advise on what Poole (and Bournemouth) is like to live in? Which areas to look at, any areas in particular to avoid?

What's the area around Poole hospital/town centre like (Oakdale/Longfleet area)?

£950k budget?

I'm guessing that's a typo. £950 a month sounds normal. Finding a ground floor flat with garden for that though will be very tricky.
