Anyone own or owned a static caravan or chalet type thing?

I've always had a notion of having a static caravan in a holiday park by the sea, somewhere Northern so that we could get to it within a couple of hours.

DH is finally sort of on board with the concept of it, having realised that his love affair with long haul luxury holidays may not be sustainable at present.

Anyway I haven't really got a clue where to start. I've tried looking at some parks online and a few have caravans for sale but I don't know what I'm looking at, and why there's such a price difference. I also can't see much about yearly costs or how long a lease you get. All I can tell is that chalets seem much more expensive.

Any tips for a beginner or experience would be welcome!

As for cruises I've just looked at a 21 day round the world cruise - £3,195! Including drinks, spa access, balcony with a view, all gratuities AND flights & a hotel for one night either end!

So, for 8 people that would be £25.5k - somewhat more than a caravan holiday by anyone’s standards.

I can’t begin to imagine the revolting petri dish of buffets that can offer a week all inclusive for about £1,000. It isn’t exactly a Seabourne cruise is it? Three weeks would be torture, for us. We prefer more space, a beach 50 yd’s away and an ability to go on spur of moment.

I work out my Vfm
As nights stayed x price of a basic travelodge ie£60 a night
One year pre covid we stayed so often it would’ve cost us £8k to do that plus extra food money

That’s way over and above our £2k site fees and about £1k pa running costs

Based on my calculation We’ve had about £5k of breaks
Actually we’ve had more as our site fees Start from Oct so we had quite a few breaks before lockdown on nov4
Basically if we stayed every night of the 252 that it is open
It would cost us £8-50 a night

Sadly that isn’t going to happen
