Just been diagnosed..any help will be much appreciated. Had to go to see the ophthalmologist as my field test wasn't right at my optician appointment and I am so worried. One of the main worrys is I have had to inform the DVLA and I am so worried that they say I can no longer drive

It really make you realise how precious your eye sight is doesn't it 😥

@Rainbowcat1122, can I ask what were your eye pressure?

We didn't realise that you have to tell the DVLA if you have a formal diagnosis of glaucoma. My DH has ocular hypertension (not formally diagnosed with glaucoma) and so has not been told that he has to inform the DVLA. He puts the drops in every night but will be having laser treatment in August.

I was the youngest in the eye clinic waiting room at my appointments by at least 20 years

My DH said that too after his appointment last week (he's late 50s). His was only picked up because he had something else wrong with his eyes some years ago and he worked near Moorfields eye hospital so popped in one day after work and they picked up the high pressure.

I'm 56 and was also the youngest patient

@looptheloopinahulahoop

I didn't realise glaucoma or macular hole were notifiable conditions either. It was DH who found out. He rang our car insurers and told them about my eye conditions. They told him I needed to notify the DVLA straight away. We looked up the list on the DVLA website and they were both there so I filled in their form. Not heard back from the DVLA as yet but I'm not driving & don't want to as my vision is very distorted in one eye and the gas bubble hasn't fully dispersed yet.

I’m 51 and was diagnosed with glaucoma 8 years ago. I only found out that DVLA had to be informed of my diagnosis last year. When I spoke to them, I had to go for eyesight and field vision tests at one of their appointed opticians, and I was cleared to drive for another couple of years.
