Why am I a walkover

Hello all

Looking for advise really

I am a walkover

I take on too much at work
Never say no when people ask for extras

Changed jobs recently and went ahead with the work
Never got an official start date
It's been ten weeks and no pay
But they asked me to keep working

Wtf have I got myself into??

Can they insist I stay with no pay or should I just say sorry it's no longer possible

Please go easy on me

This is so bizarre! Ask to speak to them your self - what kind of manager says I’ll do it next week when someone tells them they haven’t been paid! Your fortunate this hasn’t left you in a financial state.

RampantIvy · 25/06/2021 15:40

They were desperate for staff as many had just left

I wonder why

Queenie6655 · 25/06/2021 18:10

It very nearly has 😳😲

Lesson learned

It's hard isn't it @MargaretFraggle

I have low self esteem
Work really hard and need to value my time and my effort more

Wish I had been clearer and firmer from the out set

Awful situation

@Fitforforty

Start applying for other jobs now. They are are rubbish company and a sinking ship.

Speak to management. Either face to face or via phone if face to face or zoom is not possible. Say you need paying or you will take them to small claims court. Follow up the meeting with an email saying just to confirmed that today we discussed x, y and a and you promised a, b, c if this is not resolved by xx.xx.xxxx then I will be filling a claim with the small claims court.

It would be a tribunal claim, not small claims court.

Did you not say something after 1 month? If you're in a professional role its surely unusual to not be paid?

Dillydollydingdong · 25/06/2021 20:16

You don't have to work any notice. As I said, they are in breach of contract entitling you to accept the breach and leave.

Queenie6655 · 25/06/2021 21:37

I did I would say 4-5 weeks in I was emailing Hr weekly

But still doing the work

Foolish

Not staying
