How many steps do you do a day?

I struggle to get past 12,000
I'm on 8,000
But that's because I've walked 1 mile today to work.
What's your count ?

20,000 a day.

Lost a stone. Just walking.

Babdoc · 14/06/2021 16:35

Currently 2,000 a day. Which is a huge improvement from the 500 a day I have been doing while struggling with long Covid for the past 15 months.
Last week I actually managed one day of 9,000 steps, but was wiped out for three days on the sofa afterwards. Trying to increase my exercise without triggering a relapse is a difficult balancing act!

TakeYourFinalPosition · 14/06/2021 16:42

@reallybreexy TeamRH?

PerditaCambellBlack · 14/06/2021 16:43

I try to do 5,000 a day which is quite hard as I have a WFH desk job. Sometimes its only 2 or 3,000 at the weekend

MoreAloneTime · 14/06/2021 16:43

10,000 but it does take a lot of pacing and glaring at my fitbit.

Acunningruse · 14/06/2021 16:47

TramRH by any chance?! 15,000 is do-able (I was with them) but it does take a significant effort during the day or basically stepping whilst watching tv on an evening.

I now do 8-12000 most days.

GintyMcGinty · 14/06/2021 16:49

9,000 to 10,000 but only if I exercise.

If I don't exercise I am lucky to get to 2,000 because I am stuck in front of a computer screen all day.

ButtercupBlue · 14/06/2021 16:51

Mon-Thurs approx 13-15k per day

Fri-Sun more like 6k per day

So I think roughly on average around 10,000 steps

mistermagpie · 14/06/2021 16:53

I have walked 5km today and done general pottering about stuff (hanging out washing, making beds and all that) and generally not been sitting about that much. I've done 13,000 steps so far.

I never struggle to get 10,000 but I think 15,000 is challenging for most people to be honest. Especially if you have a desk job. I'm working days (not today) I get 10,000 but not much more and I tend to walk the school run and go for a short walk at lunchtime, which most people probably can't.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 14/06/2021 16:55

3500 with no effort. Really need to try harder. Have bought a step machine and doing 1 mins of steps through the working day.

hugoagogo · 14/06/2021 17:02

About 16000 is average, I walk to work and have a physical job.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 14/06/2021 17:04

my cheapo fitness tracker doesn't seem to count lots of my pottering about which IMO is no bad thing. I often take it off when I hit 10k, which as someone who drives to a job where I can then sometimes sit at a desk all day is never without some effort.

Gwenhwyfar · 14/06/2021 17:05

Pre-lockdown and in previous job I averaged 13k. Now with compulsory work from home, I'm lucky to reach 6k. Also, my fitbit isn't great so these may be exaggerated and I'm short so lots of little steps.

fellrunner85 · 14/06/2021 17:07

I average 15,000 a day, but that includes one long run day when I'll do 40k steps or so, and a couple of days when I might only do 6 or 7k because I'm on my bike or swimming instead. I never walk around just for the sake of getting my steps up, but am generally quite active.

Bagelsandbrie · 14/06/2021 17:08

If I don’t try then it’s about 4500. That usually includes a walk into town and back - so about a couple of hours brisk walking. And then just pottering about at home for the rest of the day. I prefer the Active 10 app over step counting. I try and get 30 mins brisk walking a day.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/06/2021 19:14

Today 10000, walking too and from school twice, 30min dance workout, and a 30 minute walk. Plus housework.

I go for an evening work when DH is home, but he's at work for 2-4 days at a time.

HermioneGrunger · 14/06/2021 19:18

I've done nearly 15k today already. I did 10k each day over the weekend just gone.

FoodieToo · 14/06/2021 19:42

15,000 average. But I am active at work and walk every day between 5 and 10 k .
Record is 30,000.
