My jaw won't open!

What on earth do I do? My jaw has sort of seized up and I can only open my mouth a tiny bit. It's very difficult to eat (possibly a blessing in disguise). It's been like this since Monday and is painful if I try to open it properly. Ibuprofen hasn't helped at all.

Do I make an appointment with the GP or the dentist or what?

@Roselilly36

How are you feeling today OP *@christdoinghisunspecifiedhobby* I hope the pain it is easing off.
Same really, no change. It's been a week today. A friend did some reflexology on me and is convinced it's my neck causing the problem rather than my jaw but my neck feels fine, the pain and restriction of movement is right in the TMJ "hinge".

Not much I can do really till I have an appointment with the GP on Thursday. I remembered that I do have BUPA through work (have never really used it as thankfully never seem to be ill!) so if I need a referral hopefully I can get it quicker that way.

@ItsRainingTacos
I have an anterior displaced tmj disc confirmed by MRI which has been locked for 7 months. Are you based in the UK? The NHS have not been very helpful, I looked into a private athroscopy, but it was £12,000. How much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking? And how are you now?
