Do you think there will be another lockdown?

I am contemplating sending my children to an independent school in the upcoming year. I don't want to pay fees for zoom lessons.
What do you think the likelihood of another lockdown is?

I don't think they're going to shut schools again, especially if they vaccinate 12-18s later this year.

@socialmediamishap- It’s not an obsession it’s just going by how cautious the government are being now. Look how quickly Portugal was taken off the green list when they hardly have any cases at all. I don’t think they would hesitate to do a lockdown if it was really necessary at the time

@Whosaidit local food shops were open, you could go out each day. That's not a lockdown. In Madrid children had three weeks where they could not leave the house, in Italy the national guard enforced restrictions, in France you needed a permit to visit someone out of your area who was dying.

We were in lockdown. That’s what it was called.

I think there will be no more lockdowns at all

Unless the government MAJORLY FUCK UP the autumn boosters - they have to do everyone again before Christmas (I think?)

Which they could do HmmHmmHmm

we can only just about afford it and we want our moneys worth i

I would think very very carefully before committing. Fees often go up above the rate of inflation, and having to withdraw your DC after they've started would be potentially very disruptive and worse than not going in the first place..

Variants are going to continue to spring up, we can’t hide away every single time. If vaccinations are key then there’s really no reason to hide away anymore. I don’t think my mental health would survive another lockdown.

So in the meantime let the state schools take the strain of your precious ones until you get value for money? Hmm you either commit to private education or you don't.

Can you afgord the more expensive uniform, extra curricular activities and just kepping up with the jonses?
