I am having a major clean down of our house as I had let things slide and after deep cleaning realise our carpets need a wash.
I could hire a machine but are the carpet washing hoovers you can buy any good? If you have one and love it which one?

I have a Bissell. I borrowed a friends first before buying one, it’s good but don’t have anything else to compare it to.

I have a Bissell Stain Pro 12, I bought it around 2 years ago and it’s a huge improvement on the various Vax cleaners I’ve had before. I found Vax to be really unreliable and had three machines replaced by them within the guarantee period of the first one I bought so when the last one failed I gave up on them and have no regrets. It does a much better job.

I have a vax carpet cleaner and had one before this one which lasted me 8 years.
They are handy to have however I will say once you clean a carpet once it seems to attract dirt if its light it shows up more, I clean my light silver carpet about 3/4 times a year x

I have a vax one that looks like a Henry in that it has a round drum and then the hose attachment that just kind of squirts and sucks up the water as you go. You can tell the difference after cleaning but it’s not great as just kind of rinses the surface. I’m going to upgrade to one like a stand up vacuum that has a brush that cleans as it washes so watching with interest for recommended models

Mine is a Bissell Proheat PET pro and a godsend

I also have a Bissell - I bought a refurbished one from ebay beginning of last year as they have an outlet. Seems to wash ok.

Another vote for Bissell. Much better than our old Vax.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I have had various cleaners in and out of my cart all day but finally made a decision and just ordered a Bissell pro heat Revolution Pet-pro (longest name ever!)

I'm ridiculously excited for it to arrive. Aside from the carpets I want to do the mattresses in the DC rooms that look like someone held a festival on them Hmm

If you have cleaned mattresses can I ask roughly how long they take to dry?

If you're looking for a reliable carpet washing Hoover, I highly recommend the Hoover Dual Power Carpet Washer. It’s an excellent option for deep cleaning carpets at home, offering powerful suction and a quick-drying system. It’s easy to use, and you’ll save on rental costs while achieving professional-level results. Check out our listing for this model at EBTH, if you’re interested in picking one up. It’s perfect for getting your carpets back to their fresh, clean state!

I washed my mattress in the summer and it was dry within 1.5 days and I did both sides.

I put the mattress on the floor and went over it like I did with carpet using the whole machine. Using the hand tool would have taken far too long!

The colour of the waste water was 🤑

I also have a Bissell - bought it 4 years ago and use it several times per year when the kids vomit, piss on the floor and general cleaning of high traffic areas. It has been worth every penny!

Just realised this is a zombie thread from 2021 and revived by a bot trying to sell from their shop 😅
