Secret erotic fan fiction shame

I have name changed for this because, well it’s embarrassing.

I have- in my 40th year- discovered erotic fan fiction.

It happened over lockdown and i stumbled across it totally by accident. We watched the US Office for the first time and I joined a Reddit group about it. And then through that I stumbled across some very saucy Jim and Pam fan fiction and it was.... interesting. So I read some more. And then some more. And now I read lots. And have kind of strayed into some other fandoms (although The Office is my main one). What’s ironic is that I don’t even really like Jim and Pam as characters in the actual show. They annoy the shit out of me.

I haven’t told a real life soul about this. Mostly because I’m an old lady reading stuff probably meant for 15yr old girls but also because I’m.... quite literary. Three lit degrees. Lecture in literature. Read three books a week. Am a huge snob about books. I could never, ever admit this little hobby in real life.

So..... anyone else out there? Or..... just me?

'll pardon the term 😆) in similar ways to others, who've written theirs down.
I got completely obsessed with The Walking Dead a few years ago. I'd watched it from the start but became addicted during a binge of S5 & 6 in one big go. There was nothing I could do with my obsession as the show wouldn't be back for months and would more than likely be incredibly depressing when it did. So I was overjoyed to find fanfic about it on AO3. None of it was quite my taste but it helped and then I started forming ideas of my own. I ended up writing 3 stories. A quickly thrown together 'reader's digest' version of events, then a much more considered version of that story, with more character backstory and fleshing out. With the encouragement of my readers I also got over my embarrassment a bit and went a bit further with the 'sexy bits' too. Then when the next couple of series took a massive detour and wrecked my little fantasy a bit, I returned to AO3 and wrote a different version with the same characters and backstory but set in the new timeline of the show.
It was a great way of flexing writing and creative muscles I hadn't used since university, while also scratching the itch of missing the show during hiatus and wanting to express my obsession somehow. I don't feel guilty about it and i've had lovely feedback from my readers.
Some of the stuff on there is pretty extreme and weird but mostly it's just people harmlessly getting their demons out of their systems. If I was a famous actor i'd definitely avoid searching for my name on there 😵but otherwise, it's just a bit of fun.

I love Sherlock/Molly Fan fiction. With a child who wakes up 10 times a night I have read a lot of them, smutty and not smutty ones.
My friend writes Fan fiction stories and she is pretty amazing in it.

I started writing fanfic about fifteen years ago. Ten years ago I made the jump to publishing original fiction and now put out three books a year.

Fanfic will always be my first love, but I REALLY love that I get to write kissing books that make people happy, and that let me work for myself.

I love A03! I'm addicted to Supernatural fanfic, generally just the Destiel stuff.

I think it's the most prolific fandom on there so I'll never run out. It's a bit hit and Miss but there's some brilliant writing on there.

I'm in my 60s and just picked up my fanfic pen again after about 20 years off!

Used to write Professionals and Blake's 7 - but now have discovered the absolute beauty that is North and South (the UK TV/Gaskell version) - John Thornton/Margaret Hale - and I can't stop writing every spare minute I get.
