Being kind to yourself

oneanddone1 · 29/05/2021 09:40

Would anyone like to join me in making a note of one kind thing you've done for yourself every day? Could be anything - having a bath with nice bubble bath, using your favourite perfume, buying fresh flowers, reading a book, not beating yourself up when you make a mistake. Anything. I struggle with self esteem and try and do these things but thought seeing what other people do could be inspiring & helpful.

I went for a walk around the village then sat in the garden reading.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 30/05/2021 18:14

well I've just refused to help doing something that would've made me feel anxious and now someone else is going to step in.
I think that counts

Well done @ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba that's not an easy thing to do!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 30/05/2021 21:52

thanks @PyjamaFan

if there had been noone else to do it I would've stepped in, but it got sorted without me so I'm glad I didn't push myself on a day I was already weak.

hope you've all managed a bit of self-care today.

I sat in the garden with a glass of fizz and a foot pack on. Simple things!

Lepetitpiggy · 30/05/2021 22:01

It has been my birthday and I chose to stay in and do virtually nothing. Bliss

BlackeyedSusan · 30/05/2021 22:05

right, I am in for the not beating myself up for making a mistake as I have just remembered an appointment I missed today.

Grellbunt · 30/05/2021 22:06

Went for a walk to see the beautiful evening

Actually relaxed in the garden for a while today

Putting my phone off now as it is v late

It totally does. Good work!

Bought a plant and plant pot that I liked. Went for a drink with my husband.

I'm all over this.

Can I add a meditation by Chris Germer.

I love it when you're going through some thing challenging. The meditation soothes you in to conjuring up the succinct five or so words you'd say to a friend in the exact same shoes you're in and then you say those words to yourself. And because they came to you when you were being kind to somebody else, they are kind and not at all critical. It's a good approach. xx

I don't have kids so I do have time to look after myself. We had a big night Saturday so today after lunch I had a bath, put on lotion, face oil and fresh pyjamas and a robe and slouchy bed socks, hair oil and up in a clip, and just absolutely lounged. I spent the evening watching videos on how to apply makeup... I was never great but I'm a year out of practice!

Thanks Constance I just did that lovely meditation Smile

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 31/05/2021 09:51

morning all.
DH took all but one of our kids camping yesterday with his best friend. I do miss them a lot but I have 2.5 days of not having to do anything childcare related, DS1 is 19 and very capable so I don't even have to do cooking!
I have a to do list and I'll probably tick off a few things, but I can also ignore it and just stay in bed to rest (got nasty period cramps), watch SWAT and crochet all day.

have a lovely day!

@Lepetitpiggy Happy birthday yesterday!

I'm off for lunch with a friend and a potter round the shops. Have a great bank holiday, everyone!
